I Will Not Carve Your Gravestone

I will not carve your gravestone.

I will not place you in a casket, I will not seal that casket shut, I will not place that casket under six feet of dirt. I will not place a stone on your head, and I will not carve words into that stone. Words that mean nothing, that will wash away in centuries and ages and become meaningless.

Instead, I will lead you away.

Away from your casket and your grave and away from that thin silver stick of death. Instead, I will guide you away from the sharp edge of a life taking instrument, I will guide you away from the boom of a gun held to a person's head because they cried for mercy. Instead, I will lead you away from the blackness of a pill.

I will not carve meaningless words into a gravestone that shouldn't have been there in the first place.

Instead, I will lead you away.
