Just one more day! One more day and she would be on that cruise, lining the beautiful ocean...

Kittie lay casually in a quiet space under the old oak, wearing a bikini top and shorts. It was a boiling hot day, and she had decided to go to the springs. The springs were a thing of tradition. For years, pupils from Kittie’s school had visited the springs when it got really hot, often for a swim. Kittie had her dyed bleach-blonde hair in a ponytail, swishing about above her head as she scribbled down answers. The hair dye was really the only thing that set them apart. Kittie had always dyed her hair blonde, whereas Katie had sworn to keep hers natural. She took a sip of the soda she had beside her, sighing. There was little shade here, and there were still odd rays of sun managing to pierce the large emerald green leaves, weaving their way in through the gaps and dappling the ground.

‘Hey, Kittie!’ came an all too familiar voice.

‘Yeah. Hi.’ Kittie plainly replied as Henry strolled slowly toward her. ‘What do you want?’ she closed her textbook and swivelled so she was sitting with her legs crossed as Henry knelt down in front of her.

‘I like you, Kittie.’ Henry began, making it obvious he wasn’t finished speaking, ‘Why do you hate me so much?’

‘Because,’ Kittie smiled sugar. ‘You are a stuck up asshole.’

‘What? I am not!?’ he yelled indignantly. Sophie suddenly caught Kittie’s eye from across the spring and pulled a fuming face at her. Kittie looked back at Sophie from her position in the long, tickly grass. Just as she dreaded, Sophie came stomping over to where she was, attitude made obvious.Shit. Thought Kittie, she didn’t want something starting. When Henry spotted Sophie, he leapt backwards away from Kittie and attempted to look normal. He was fit, Kittie had to admit. But he was a bloody dipshit!

‘What are you doing with this...ugh?’ Sophie asked Henry, staring Kittie up and down whilst pulling a face as if she had just eaten an entire lemon.

‘Nothing...’ Henry replied, scoffing. Kittie folded her arms in resignation. Suspicions confirmed, he was a twat that obviously didn’t like her that much if he was going to let even just talking to her affect his stupid ‘image’.

‘Yeah, well it better be.’ Sophie scowled at Kittie, strutting away. Kittie just narrowed her eyes and shook her head at Henry, a look that showed him that Kittie wasn’t going to give him a second warning.

‘Go. Before I make you.’ Kittie stared Henry directly in the eyes, holding his gaze for a moment before he shook himself and wandered off. Kittie snorted, he was a prick, as he just showcased.Well played Henry, well played, she couldn’t help thinking to herself as she watched Sophie sneer smugly to herself. Kittie snapped shut her homework folder beside the textbook and fumbled in her pocket to find her phone. She grasped it and dialled Selena’s number.

‘Hello?’ Selena answered.

‘Can you come to the springs?’ Kittie jumped straight in. ‘Please?’

‘Um, alright...I’m not exactly busy.’

‘Good, I have some serious bitching to do!’ Kittie laughed unhumouredly into the phone. Selena made a small sympathy noise before hanging up. Kittie put her phone back and just gazed over the bigger of the two sparkling pools, at the water intricately rippling. The sunlight was reflecting off of its surface, making it glisten and shine. She began to go drowsy and zone out when she felt hands grab either of her shoulders and jolt her. She jumped and turned around to see Selena giggling to herself, clutching a towel and wearing white shorts and a bathing costume. She had sunglasses on, with little love hearts on the rims.

'God, Selena, don't do that!' Kittie reprimanded, mainly jokily.

Selena smiled. 'So, what you wanting to bitch about?'

Kittie loved having Selena to spill out all of her bare hate and worry out to. They lied down on the grass - that was more like straw, it was even scratchy - and began to converse. Well, Kittie was on the grass, Selena had flattened the grass as best she could with her towel and rested on that, subconsciously pulling at pieces of the brittle grass. The one thing that satisfied her most was that Kittie was sure Sophie was listening, and it was getting to her. Though she was standing at the small cocktail bar on the other side of the water talking to Charlotte, Sophie seemed to be unable to remove her jealous gaze from Kittie. After listening to Kittie pouring out her hate, Selena hugged her. Well, it seemed like a friendly hug, but she then began running to the spring. ‘No. Selena, don’t you dare!’ Kittie’s protest became more panicked the closer to the gentle water they got. Selena laughed hysterically before letting Kittie go, making sure she landed squarely on the edge. Although she fought to keep her balance, she toppled sideways and broke the glittering surface, disrupting the rhythmic flow. As Kittie surfaced, she flicked her hair back, boring her eyes evilly into Selena’s bright, smiling ones. Her best friend was creased with laughter, her sunlit locks tumbling past her ears and around her face, jiggling as she laughed. Just one more day...Kittie thought again to herself, even though she was trying to maintain her anger as a sudden urge to giggle erupted into her mind.
