I could tell something clicked,
Something lost, something found,
Your grey eyes hid the secret,
To the things I never found;

Skye's P.O.V

I look up at the ceiling after numerous failed attempts of trying to go to sleep. My head hurts with everything to do with this case and now, Christopher just added more to the burden. Something happened today. I can't explain it but I know that something clicked in him. After he pulled back from the kiss something flashed across his eyes. It was like he got some... new resolution or something.

However, that being said, I also saw something else in his eyes. I could tell he was hurting. Like as if he wanted to say something but he just couldn't. Then came the question of how he knows Lexov. I wanted to believe, so badly, that he was telling the truth. That he knows Lexov because he added eco-friendly appliances to his apartment. But my instinct tells me something different.

He is hiding something. Something that he wants to tell me but he just can't. I grow restless just by thinking about it. If he ever does tell me, is it something that I'm going to like?

I turn to sleep on my side. Last night, I felt like he was opening up to me. Seems silly, I know but I couldn't help but think I was safe. Like he is going to be there for me whenever I need him. He has proved that on numerous occasions. I'm not going to deny I feel something for him.

And I'm not going to deny that he does for me too. But with all this, there is something else. A little hidden clause in a huge contract. I sigh and close my eyes. Maybe someday, when he is prepared to tell me, I will be prepared to understand.

"You're not going to be alone with him at any time, understood?" Sarah said in a stern voice as I locked my apartment door.

"Yes mom," I say in my annoyed tone.

"I'm serious, Skye, he is dangerous. If he smells something fishy..."

"We will get him before then, alright?" I assure her and we head down. Sarah looks stunning. She is wearing a one shoulder black sequined satin gown with some beautiful black jewelry and her hair in a bun while I'm in a strapless black dress with a v-cut at the top that shows off a bit of cleavage. It was just earlier today when we went shopping. Clarke picked us up and took us to a few stores, all the while keeping an eye on us which, I believe, Christopher ordered him to do.

I find Clarke to be similar to Christopher in some aspects. He is really focused on his surroundings at all times but is also sweet and caring. We hit it off on the first hello and I've been ordering to stop calling me ma'am ever since.

He talks when I start a conversation but immediately changes direction when I talk about Christopher. I wouldn't call it loyalty just yet but I refuse to think about it today. I have a lot on my mind already.

As much as I hated it, Christopher paid for our seriously expensive dresses for which I am going to tell him off later. But it is understandable. Lexov wouldn't be caught dead with some women in cheap attire, would he?

"We are here, Skye." Clarke said, having a bit of difficulty is saying my name instead of ma'am.

"Good progress, Clarke, keep it up." I pat him on the shoulder and he laughs and gets out of the car to open the door for us.

"Ready?" I await Sarah's reply.

"Ready." She confirms and we walk inside the building.

After handing our invites to the guard, he allows us to go in and after a few admiring stares at the apartment, we make our way to the bar. It is the best place to keep an eye out without invoking suspicions.
