I quickly run around in nothing but my underwear, trying to brush my teeth and pick out an outfit to leave the house in. I look through my closet, trying not to get toothpaste on the clothes and on my floor. It wasn't working. This was bad. I groan, exiting my closet and moving to the bathroom. I bump into Larry, who decided not to get dressed in the bathroom but to walk out in nothing but a towel after his shower.

"Hey." I say, my voice muffled by the toothbrush. "Put on some clothes!" I side step him and run into the steamy bathroom.

"You need help?" Larry asks, and I turn to face him.

"Yes!" I say, staring to brush my teeth.

This must've looked really bad to anyone. I mean, I was just in my undies and Larry was in nothing but a towel. I must've looked like some hoe. And considering he's been staying at my place for at least a week...

This was bad. I was running late for a meeting with my mother and it was all Larry's fault.

"Vera!" I hear, making me jump and turn.

"Yes Larry?" I ask, and he walks over to the bathroom, the towel gone and replaced with his boxers.

"Where you goin?" He asks, a dress in his hand.

"My mother and I have like... little meetings to see what my schedule will be like for this week, and I'm running late and-" I was cut off by the sound of my door opening and my eyes wide. "Oh no." I mutter, snatching the dress from him and struggling to shove it over my head. It was a plain white sundress, which was fine.

"Vera?" I hear, and I push past Larry, but he grabs my arm and pulls me to him.

"What are you doing? My moms out there." I hiss at him, and he bends his head to mine and kisses me. "No." I say, pulling away. "Now is not the time to-" He cuts me off with another kiss. It was those type of kisses, the ones that leave me breathless. He was good at that.

"Vera, you didn't tell my you had company over." My mother says, interrupting Larry and I. I pull away, my face hot, and I push Larry out of the way.

"I'm sorry mother. It seemed to slip my mind." I say, hoping she'd take her eyes off of Larry, who still wasn't wearing any clothes and wasn't ashamed of it.

"I thought the two of you weren't together." She says, her eyes flickering to me.

"We always together." He says, his lips pulling up into a smirk. "Even when it seem like she not my girl, she my girl."

"Hmm." My mother says, looking him up and down. "Put on some clothes, child. Vera, I laid out some paperwork you have to see. There are several dates for photoshoots that I think would be beneficial to your career." She grabs my arm and starts to pull me out of the room. I look behind at Larry, seeing him cross his arms and watch as my mother drags me away.

"Hold on." I say, pulling my arm out of my mother's grip and taking a step toward him. "Are we still going to lunch?"

"Of course. Is you maman coming?" He asks, looking behind me. He made it obvious he didn't like her, but she didn't pay it any mind. She was used to people not liking her.

"No, I'll let you two lovebirds have your lunch alone." She says, waving her hand. "I don't want to intrude."

Larry opens his mouth, but I give him a look. I felt as if he was going to say something out of line, so I shut it down before it started. I was not gonna get him in my mother's black book. Then she'd make me stop seeing him and would pair me up with someone I hated. I didn't want that.

"Go get dressed." I say to him, slapping his chest. He smirks and kisses my forehead before retreating to my room and closing the door behind him.

"Vera." My mother says, and I nod, walking over to her and into the living room. We sit down at my dining table, me sitting to her right. We sit in silence and she looks over to me. "How long has he been staying here with you?"
