This project involves discovering the ways in which The Borgia family could be viewed as immoral and analysing the weight of such arguments upon the final judgment of the question. The aim is to show whether their morality was justified, yet more so to establish the importance of context when analysing such an issue. These aims have been achieved by examining events such as: The murder of Juan Borgia, The 'Banquet of Chestnuts' and the Execution of Savonarola. After examining many events and the themes which stem from them, it was clear that Yes, the Borgia family lacked morality and in the society today would have been viewed as extremely corrupt however, when one takes into account the time period of renaissance Italy, their morality seems very commonplace in most areas due to the similar ruthlessness of the ruling Italian families.
