Sons of Saoghal: The Four Tasks(THE WELL MOTHER'S SONG)

There once was a story sparsely told

Of epic events, many years to unfold

As a young girl learned to read and write

Thoughts of magical other worlds took flight

Where trolls were good and fairies bad

And giants? Above all else, great vegan dads

For in this world created there

Lay Gwrtheryn, Loch, Ddraig and Faire:

Four lands of ancient times.

Fate, calling upon their orphaned ones,

Edward, Malcolm, Meghan and Mac,

Saoghal's Sons,

Four tasks, their destined path.

In Gwrtheryn's lands, great anguish rose

When the simple touch of fairy's dust

Changed lives and hearts and more

The best of them turned clawing beasts

And green, oily trolls.

A Saoghal's son has come to find

That thrones were taken and heirs forsaken,

Banished to The Forest of Deeds.

Loch's lake, the land of the selkie kind

Where silk is weaved to sheath the skin

Of the water folk you'll find.

But the weaver's hand is held steadfast,

By a shadow grob of Grobenheim,

Who seems to all amiss.

Hearts smitten and pride thus bitten

He fails a kiss to take

And all by a selkie's selfless choice,

To shield her threatened kin,

There arose The Missing Lake.

In Ddraig, with bones of wasted beasts

A giant lay in wait

To claim the soul of one so bold,

To steal the amulet.

For on his neck The Dragon's Bone,

Fared above a speck.

But all is not, as there and seen,

A giant's mind can change.

With an artless touch of bone to bone,

A hero saves the day.

The One that takes the task,

Will right the dry and scattered bones,

The Well has just to ask.

And dragon, king and queen alike

Are brought to flesh, blood and life.

In a dark and winding maze

The fated stands alone

As tiny folk, five hundred years

Are turned to lifeless stone.

The shadow guard slithers there,

With skins and jaws and mist.

But a hero does, as heroes must,

Make way

For all who's good and just.

The One whose task is for the dark

Has eyes for night and day

And 'slight-of-hand' is needed there

To right the wrong of Saoghal's Faire

And

For tiny, fairy folk's claim to land

Of The Shadowless Maze

The hero, has but to boldly stand.
