The world is on fire.
Everything I see is dancing flames, burning the grass beneath it as it begins to creep towards me. The sun, which I'm sure was once there, is now covered by a ceiling of smoke: thick, black and terrifying. I close my eyes. I don't need to see it to know that the perimeter of grass around me is becoming smaller and smaller. I can feel the horrible heat of the fire as it gets closer, like a monster creeping up to me in the dark, tiptoeing to be sure not to be heard. The flames are beginning to engulf me- it grows around me, beneath my feet and above my head. I feel like I should feel pain in my toes, where the hot heat is burning, but the only thing I can focus on is the smoke invading my lungs, filling them to the brim, pushing the precious oxygen out of the way.
I'm suffocating.
I'm dying.
And yet, I'm only dreaming.
