Gumball’s Point of View:
I dressed formally. A pink button up shirt with black slacks. I sighed as I looked down at my desk in my room. There was only one invitation I did not give out.
Marshal Lee’s.
I held my face in my hands, sighing louder than before. I could be mean wanting revenge, and not invite him at all. I had excuses I could use if he asked me why.
He was banned.
But normally he could come to the castle activities and meetings if I obeyed it.
The evil thought struck me like a whip. I could invite him and flirt with The Fire Prince in front of him. The image of Marshal crying pleased me. Then left a dark empty feeling in my gut.
No, no matter what Marshal did to me... I still can’t be cold towards him.
“Peppermint maid!” I called out still keeping my eyes on the letter as I picked up in my hands.
“Yes, Prince?” She came in knocking as she did so. “Take this invitation to Marshal Lee at his cave... See to it that he gets it.”
I handed it to her as she nodded leaving the room. Just before she shut the door, she gave me a sad look. She knew I haven’t been myself lately.
I put on my fancy shoes, I hardly ever wore.
I stood straight breathing in... then out...
“I can’t do this!” I yelled pulling at my hair from the roots. I can’t believe I invited Marshal when I’m supposed to be getting together with Coal. Maybe I could call the ball off? I turned on my heels and dashed over to my window onto the balcony.
People were already coming in. Dammit.
“Prince Gumball?” One of the guards outside my door chimed in on my panicking. “It is time to seek the presents of the Prince.” he stated. Oh Glob.
I ran to the door and opened it as Fiona stood there just about to knock. “Hey Gumball.” She smiled as I looked at her white dress.
She was stunning. “Hey Fiona.” I smiled, fixing my hair nervously. “Coal is here y’know. He escorted me...we talked about you the whole way.” She giggled and grabbed one of my hands tightly leading my down the stairs.
I could never be cute enough for Marshal since I am a boy. Marshal liked women...
I kept glancing at Fiona’s face about every three steps we took. I am proud I am a boy and wouldn’t change that. But...If I was born a girl then Marshal would like me...
Fiona led me down to the very last step then she stopped.
“I know you’re still thinking of Marshal.” She sighed looking back at me.
“I know you don’t think you can forget him. But think of it as a mission. A mission named: Get Over Marshal.” SHe smiled wide squeezing my hand tightly.
She let go as I walked my way to the middle of the ballroom. The huge crowd of my guests circled around me. I saw most of them were familiar faces as others were family and friends of the other kingdoms through out Aaa.
I bowed my head gently as the music started and the crowd slowly dispersed. Coal came up to me in a red suit, his fire-like red hair falling to his shoulders and slightly passed it.
( I didn’t want his hair to be FIRE! But the color of fire, I imagine him in my story looking a little like Axel from Kingdom Hearts, The video game series.)
I felt my face heat up as he bowed to me, whispering gently in my ear, “My Prince.”
I gasped as his warm hand grabbed mine lifting it to his lips. Coal’s lips felt nothing like Marshal’s. Coal’s were really warm. He lifted his head to show his eyes. They seemed to shine like moving fire as he watched my face.
“May I have this dance in the evening?” He placed his hand on my lower back before I could even agree to his offer.
“S-sure.” i managed to release from my lips. He chuckled and placed my hand in his, pulling me closer into his arms. I bit my lip as I looked down at our feet. He was leading me on the dance floor of the ballroom.
“Your nervous face is adorable Gumball.” I leaned his face down closer to mine and kissed my fore-head. His lips stung pleasingly on my head.
So warm.
“Marshal, No!” I heard Fiona whisper-yell near the door way. I knew this would happen. It took all I had not to jerk my head towards Marshal. I just glanced as Coal cycled around. I saw Marshal talking furiously with Fiona pointing my way, over Coal’s shoulder. Coal sensed my uneasiness and stopped dancing. “Gumball?” He turned and saw Marshal lee, then I heard a sigh escape him. Marshal stopped whisper-yelling then nodded to Fiona sadly. “Is Fiona and Marshal fighting over who secretly loves each other more?” Coal apparently was clueless. But the thought of Marshal and Fiona together pulled a string at my heart.
“Maybe.” I joked back, though I didn’t mean it. Marshal turned and looked at me then gave me a disgusted look. he probably thought that I am a sicko that just wants a guy, any guy, to console me.
But that wasn’t true. Out of every person’s arms in Aaa... I wanted to be in Marshal Lee’s.
He scrunched his nose at me in annoyance then turned away going to talk to the princess’ by the punch table.
It was too late fore us. Marshal wouldn’t ever like me after this. Bo use in trying.
“Hey Gumball? Let’s sneak out of here and go to the balcony.” He grabbed my hand tightly but squeezed it gently. “The only balcony is the one at my room.” I didn’t know what or where he was going at. “I know.” He said smiling then winking at me. I felt my face heat up and my heart race.
Oh Glob.
