Cherri’s P.O.V
Thunder crackled as lightening spurred as Rubin and Evan fought. Evan brought his sword down against Rubin’s metallic wings. In two dives that looked more like a blur Rubin striked against Evan. ’We’re almost there.’ Zane’s voice filled my head.
I turned around and ran back to the end of the hall, seeing if I could make them out. Then a roaring scream soared through the air, nearly tearing my eardrums apart. I spun to find Evan on the ground with Rubin’s sword in his chest. I ran towards them.
“Cherri, no! Don’t get anywhere near him!” Rubin ordered, but I couldn’t stop myself. I fell on my knees, beside Evan.
He coughed out blood. “Cherri.” He mumbled. I stared into his eyes and saw into the past with him.
It was a memory of us. We lived in a cabin together. I ran out laughing while a dog followed and then Evan. Then Rubin came.
“Wait.” I said pulling away from Evan to look at Rubin. “You broke us up?” I accused.
Rubin shook his head. “He’s messing with your memories, so that we can’t be together.” Rubin explained. “That’s what everyone’s mission is. Keeping us apart.”
“Cherri! Rubin! Let’s get out of here!” Zane said as he ran down the hall with Terry, hellhounds following them. But I wouldn’t budge.
“Cherri, please.” Rubin held out his hand. When I didn’t respond he flung me over his shoulder and carried me off. I screamed and cried for him to release me. All I wanted was some time to think.
We managed to get outside. Once we were out of the gates Zane, Terry, and Rubin opened their wings and zoomed up. The sky seemed to ripple open as the flew. I looked back and could see some creatures running off in an attempt to follow us. Their chains sopped up in the sky, but fell short of reach.
“We’re back on earth.” Rubin informed me, but I didn’t respond.
“Stop!” A storm, commanding voice roared. Quicker than I thought possible, we all froze. Rubin turned to reveal an angel that had an essence glow that was more than attractive. His armor was slivery with multiple compartments. His hair sandy blonde. His eyes were completely golden and there seemed to be a wind briskly passing about him.
“We’ve recaptured the keys.” Terry chimed.
“Yes, but there are other matters at hand to deal with.” Said the mysterious angel.
“Relax, Gabe.” Ralph appeared.
“Ah, Ralph. Thank you for finally joining.” Zane scowled.
Before anyone could reply another angle appeared in an instant. He seemed more radiant than the others. His eyes were a strong, mincing, solid blue with dark, charcoal hair. “Father.” Zane whispered.
