"Ugh! I can barely breathe in this thing, much less move!" Merida complained, trying to walk in the dress that her mother had made her wear to meet the lords. Rapunzel raised an eyebrow. "It can't be that tight...can it?" She asked.

"You try wearing one of these!" Merida said.

"I am wearing one." Rapunzel gestured at the light pink and purple dress she had on. "Come on, I'll try to loosen it a smidge." She said, adjusting the laces.

Merida let out her breath. "Thanks, Rapunzel." She said, stretching. She was able to move more comfortably now. "Why mother insists on making it so tight I will never understand." She said.

Rapunzel nodded. "You know...I'm still not really used to seeing you with THAT." She pointed at the white cap that covered her hair. "I miss your hair." She murmured. Merida snorted, reaching under the cap and pulling out a fiery red curl. "Yep, now you look more like yourself." Jack grinned from next to Rapunzel.

Rapunzel jumped. "When did you get in here?" She asked, surprised.

"About half a minute ago." He grinned. "Just came in to check on the both of you. And to make sure Merida didn't run off."

"I wish I could." Merida muttered.

"Well, you lost your chance, I'm afraid." Jack said. "I think they already put guards out in front of all the gates and exits. And the queen is standing right next to the stairs."

"Argh! This is so unfair!" She raged. "Is it really that bad that I don't wanna get married?!"

Rapunzel walked over to her, patting her shoulder. "There, there. Maybe it won't be that bad." She said optimistically. "Who knows, you might actually like one of them." Merida shot her a look. "No." Merida said firmly.

"Well, you aren't gonna get out of it, so lets get it over with." Jack said, holding the door open. "Cheer up, Merida. I know one of them, he's a Viking."

Merida brightened up. "A Viking?" She asked. She'd heard all about their courage. "Is he just like all those Vikings in the tales?"

Jack laughed nervously. "I wouldn't get my hopes up that high, Merida..." He said.

"What do you mean?"

"Don't worry, he's a nice lad. You'll see." Jack said as they walked out. "And don't tell your mother I told you about him."

"You didn't tell me anything about him!" Merida said. "Just that he's a Viking!"

"Yeah, well...it's still something." Jack said. "And I wouldn't fancy a lecture."
