Waves crashed against the rocks that a particular dark-haired volleyball player stood on.
Kuroo Tetsurou observed the waves as they ebbed back and forth. His eyes were on the sea, but his mind was elsewhere; he was thinking about his comatose girlfriend, who was 'sleeping' in the hospital. She had been in an accident a year ago and hadn't woken up since.
Tears streamed down his face as he remembered the smile she bestowed upon him, as they ran barefoot through the sand and how she would laugh when he would pick her up, only to throw her into the water.
This beach was the place where they shared so many memories, and it was the one place that he knew made (y/n) happy. That's why he was there today. So he could remember, and so that he wouldn't forget the joyous times; he didn't want those memories tainted with sadness.
If he could go back in time, to just before the accident, he would've made sure that she didn't fall, and he would save her as many times as humanly possible.
As (y/n) lay sleeping, the seasons were still changing. Time didn't stop, and it didn't wait for Sleeping Beauty to wake up. She was Kuroo's true love and while she slept, he would always be by her side, holding her hand and talking to her, like she would wake up any second, and smile that same smile he had always loved.
He longed to hear her voice - it didn't matter what she said, as long as she was alive it didn't matter.

Two months later, and (y/n) was still showing no signs of awakening from her endless slumber.
Or so Kuroo thought...
It happened when he was changing the wilted flowers in the vase on the windowsill when he heard the bed shift behind him. He spun around on his heels, and his eyes widened as he witnessed the girl he loved had opened her own beautiful eyes. And she was groggily smiling at him. Kuroo's face crumpled as the tears once again began to flow.
He gently bought her into his arms and hugged her to him.
"Kuroo?"
He didn't reply, as he continued to weep into her shoulder.
