What does Pyra do on her day off?
Before the fire, if I wasn't still at the fire station at work, I'd be at home, alone. Practicing singing and guitar, talents that I'd never show anybody else because I didn't think that I was that good, but I didn't know for sure, because I had never shown anyone. Ever.
But now my days off are different. Hell, all of my days were different, period. Now I wasn't so lonely anymore.
The fire didn't just give me powers. It didn't just give me the ability to fly, to absorb fire or to use fire as a weapon. It also gave me friends.
I was at STAR Labs, playing Operation with Caitlin.
Barry was multitasking. He was playing ping pong with Cisco, and playing chess with Dr. Wells.
Caitlin accidentally touched the metal of the Operation game, making the buzzer go off, frustrated. "This game isn't even remotely anatomically correct."
"That's not the point, Dr. Snow," I told her, making my move, pulling out a piece without a problem.
"Then what is the point?" Caitlin asked.
I shrugged. "To continue ongoing training. Testing my ability to pull things from the fire. Literally. In a really weird way."
"In a really fun way," Barry corrected. "I know, Vera, not something you're used to, but fun does exist."
I scoffed softly, not the least bit offended. "Ouch."
Barry zoomed over to the chess table. "And testing the speed of my mind to push my ability to multitask." He made his move, zooming over to the ping pong table to hit the ball back toward Cisco, zooming over to the chess table to stop the timer. "I'm waiting on you, Dr. Wells."
Barry zoomed over to the ping pong table to continue playing with Cisco.
~
Barry and Cisco were still playing ping pong.
Caitlin and I were still playing Operation.
Wells finished his move at chess. "Checkmate."
Barry zoomed over to the table across from Wells. "Wait. Checkmate?"
"Checkmate," Wells answered. "I guess we still have a few things left to learn, don't we, Mr. Allen?"
The computer screen on the wall started to ping.
"Armed robbery at Fourth and Kolins," Cisco told us. "Looks like a job for Flyra."
"Flyra?" Barry repeated in amusement.
"Yeah," Cisco answered. "The Flash and Pyra. Thought that was pretty self-explanatory."
I stood, walking toward my suit in my display case.
Barry zoomed toward his suit in his display case. "For the record, I crushed it in ping-pong. And we all know who crushed it at Operation."
Barry and Cisco pointed at me.
"It's not as easy as it looks," Caitlin told us.
I smirked.
~
I used fire to fly to the robbery, seeing one of the robbers on the side of the car, grabbing him, grabbing another guy by motorcycles that were blocking off the road, flying away down the way toward the field, tossing them into the field but not at a strength or anything that could hurt them in any way. I used fire to fly toward the scene again, grabbing a robber that had shot a man, flying toward the back of the armored truck, grabbing the fourth and the last robber from the back of the armored car, flying toward the field, tossing them down next to the other two, but without hurting them.
