You were dying. Well, technically you would be non-existent for a while. Sleeping. You were linked to Elena Gilbert. It was either you or her that stayed awake. Kai was the only one that chose for you to stay awake but the others refused to chose between the both of you. Kai never really liked Elena, even though she was your best friend. You could tell her anything. You were both so close, closer then either of you had been towards Bonnie or Caroline. This curse had until midnight, and whichever one of you mixed your blood with some witchy type thing by then, was the one that would be put to sleep. Damon was obviously in love with Elena but he also loved you, and you were also his best friend. You sat side by side with Elena on the railing, protecting the bridge that hovered over the water. It was dark out and there was exactly 3 hours left. Neither of you spoke for a while, until Elena finally began to speak.

"Y/N, i'm.. sorry. About all of this. I'm sorry you were forced into the life I live. I'm sorry.. you were turned." "If only I had stopped him that night." She said referring to Klaus, the one that turned you.

"You shouldn't need to apologize, Elena." You said with dull look, staring below at the water as your feet dangled. "This isn't your fault." "It's that dumb witches fault." Elena said nothing as you waited. She looked at you and you looked at her once you saw her in the corner of your eye.

"I.." She paused. "I'm gonna do it." It took you only a second to realize what she was talking about. You instantly replied.

"No. Elena, I can't let you do that-."

"Y/N, I need to. I want to... I need time away from this. Time to think. And I know that's not what you want.." You stared back at the water. She was right. You didn't want it, but you also didn't want her to be the one to do it. A tear fell down your face, you bit your lip trying to hold in sobs. Elena looked to you and embraced you in a hug. You sobbed and sobbed, wishing this wasn't the life you both had to live. The decision you both had to make. You hated all of it. You didn't want to be separated from your best friend.
