Back in Cleveland Stephen sat in his hotel room with Ayesha at his side. The pair had been out shopping for the perfect engagement ring for his lovely girlfriend Lana, totally oblivious to how it might seem to onlookers. The warm feeling Stephen felt when he thought about Lana had him smiling from ear to ear, skin glowing in the moonlight.

"You think she's gonna like it?" the light skinned man asked his former finance. Ayesha and Stephen shared a deep connection, one only understood by the two of them.

"I think she'd be a fool not to." The green eyed woman beamed back at a hopeful Stephen.

"I really hope she does, I want everything to be perfect for her." Stephen confessed and Ayesha smiled. She had never seen Steph so committed to one person, not even when they were together. And even though she had no lingering feelings for the man, she couldn't help but feel a bit jealous. What made this 'Lana' so special that Stephen could keep the smile off his face?

"Steph?"

"Yeah?"

"Why her?" the words left Ayesha's mouth before she could stop them.

"Have you ever seen a book with a a cover that looked so insanely interesting that you couldn't help but wanna read it?" Stephen asked her but only further confused Ayesha, how did books compare to his feelings for this woman?

"What are you-"

"And you find that as you continue to read, you begin to fall in love with the story.. They way things are, the feeling of hope it gives you and you can't help but want more. You stay up all night reading, look forward to reading, dying to finish." Steph continues but Ayesha still didn't understand, but she was enticed. Stephen spoke so poetically, words slipping from his mouth like melodic notes of a soft ballad.

"That's why, she my book.. And I want nothing more than to continue to write my story with her. I love her so much it hurts Aye, I feel it in my bones. She's the one for me. Every time I see her my whole world calms, she is my peace and I'm so luck to have found her. I'm head over heels in love with her and can't wait to call her mine forever." When the 6 foot 3 inches man finished, tears were in Ayesha's eyes and she nodded. She finally understood that she couldn't compete with that, not that she wanted to but she was happy he had found something so wonderful. Something worth fighting for.

"That's beautiful Wardell, I'm truly happy for you and I hope everything goes as planned." And with that she left out of his hotel room, and headed to the airport.

Kyrie carried Lana to the guest bedroom gently, soon after he picked her up she had passed out in the passenger seat. He could tell that she was heartbroken, deeper than she had ever been and he was left to pick up the pieces. This was just like back in high school. Someone would break Lana's heart and Kyrie would come rushing in to save the day. He didn't mind, he loved his best friend but he just wished this would stop happening to her. Lana was a good woman, he just wished the men she dated realized that.

Pulling the covers back he set her body down as softly as he could, then he left her alone. Slowly he closed the door and ran a hand down his face. He traveled down the hallway to his bedroom and climbed into bed, knowing he would get an ear full when she woke up.

The next morning Lana sat in the bed given to her and cried, cried about her failed relationship, cried about all the good memories, and cried knowing she would have to go back to that house to face him. But no to argue, to pack her things. Lying to her was one thing but cheating.. Cheating you could never come back from and Lana wasn't a door mat. She refused to be stepped on more than once.

Kyrie must have heard her because he came busting through the door and was by her side in a nano second.

"It's gonna be okay baby girl, he didn't deserve you anyway!" The chocolate man growled. But Lana didn't say anything, she just sat in his arms and sobbed away. He always said that, claimed no man was good enough for her and in a way he was right. Kyrie held her close and kissed her forehead. Full lips touching her heated skin, sending chills down Lana's spine. She'd never admit it but she loved being babied by Kyrie. Loved the feeling she got when he was around.

But she had Stephen, or so she thought...

After a few hours of sitting there Kyrie had left Lana asleep in the guest room and went to practice. At the Q he sat with LeBron and Matthew, fellow player of the Cavaliers, telling them about what happened between Steph and Lana. He was between a rock and hard place and needed a bit of advice.

"Damn, swear last time I saw him he was talkin' 'bout marrying that girl. Now they ain't together?" LeBron stated while lacing up his sneakers. They were brand new and he needed to break them in before the next game.

"I guess so. Love is tricky." Matthew said standing up to get a ball. The trio shot around for a few hours, talking.

"So are you gonna try to get with her now?" Dell finally asked the question him and the rest of the team had been wondering for ages now. Ever since they've known Kyrie they always wondered why he stayed single. That was until they met Lana at his birthday dinner a few years back.

"What d-do you mean?" Irving asked panting a bit, his heart rate increasing. No doubt he had feelings for Lana but he always kept them deep inside himself. She needed him to be her best friend, nothing more.

"C'mon man we all know you have some sort of feelings for Lana, shit ever since you introduced us!" Bron chimed in sinking a three pointer. Swallowing deep Kyrie shook his head. Was he really that readable?

"I mean.." Kyrie started, trying to hid the swelling feeling he got when he talked about the girl of his dreams. His best friend, Lana Arden..
