Darkness. All that could be seen. It would shift around, making distorted views of things Karai knew. A once comforting face of her Mother now seeming to be a monster. The shadows grew into figures and started to move towards her. With that, the figures spoke in a raspy voice of unison, "Karaiiii.". "Mother... Father... Sister?", she asked. The figures launched themselves at her. Hoping it would all go away, she closed her eyes.

She gasped as she woke up, startling the small demon-rats that had made their way beside her. Large alley walls would stretch up around her, leaving only two ways. Looking around for wounds, she gets up, kicking one demon rat at least six yards away. "Maybe its dead.", she said as she ran to check the demon-rat. The other one that Karai didn't kick had ran away, leaving a few treasures the two had left behind. "Its dead alright. Just need to get a fire started...". She would look at the treasure the other rat left behind. Carrying the corpse with her, she picked up a drained lighter. Shaking it, she wouldn't see any anti matter coming out of the lighter. "Darn thing!", she yelled while throwing it into the alley wall, breaking it. Slumping back down the wall, into a puddle, she would look at the rat corpse and start to eat it anyway. After eating the thing in a few bites, bone and all, she wiped her face of blood and headed for an opening in the alleyway.

Walking into the open, the alleyway dissipated. Looking at the horizon, she stretched, and looked back, surprised that she would end up in a open place. This type of random movement was normal to her now. It happened all the time, even helping her on escapes from certain people. She caught a glimpse of what was happening now and then, but it didn't matter to her. As long as it kept her moving. Actually paying attention now, she shivered. Snow crunched under her bare feet as she walked, exploring her new background. As Karai walked around, she heard voices. Some were really close to her position, saying what seemed like a few names. When hearing the voices, she jumped up into a tree (The tree's leaves were at least nine feet high). Just as she lands in the tree, two figures dressed in all white walk past slowly. "...and the Crater? Is that safe?", one figure asked. The one that talked look a bit old, grey hair somehow showing through his white hair. "Not necessarily... but with research we could maybe make it safe.", the smaller, lither figure says. The smaller one was bald, and had a sort of hunch back going on. "Weird, I cant see their faces." Karai whispered to herself. As she said it, the smaller figure heard and turned towards the noise. "Sir, I think you should go now.", the small figure said. As it was said, the old man disappeared. "Now... reveal your position before I kill you girl.", the small figure hissed, turning into a winged creature.
