A rabbit poked its nose out of a hole, sniffing the air cautiously. The forest was deadly silent, except for the occasional rustle of leaves and the hooting of a lone owl. A luminescent circle hung in the inky black sky, moonlight splashing across the clearing. Gnarled trees seemed to twist into grotesque shapes, reaching out with clawed fingers. Strange shadows were cast on the ground, and shapes darted around, hidden in the swirling mist winding around the trees.
The rabbit sniffed the air once again, seemed to decide that it was void of danger, and bounded across the clearing.
A panic-filled heartbeat later, the rabbit laid several feet away, kicking its legs feebly as it struggled to hang on to its last threads of life. A dagger was buried to the hilt in its twitching body, hilt woven with grinning skulls.
A hooded figure melted out of the shadows, showing plumb feminine lips curled into a hint of a smirk, the rest of her face hidden in darkness.
The figure sauntered gracefully up to the dying rabbit, slender fingers wrapped around a similarly ominous blade.
A flash of silver and a spray of blood later, the lifeless body was left sprawled in unnatural angles. As she bent down, a piercing howl echoed through the night, causing the hair on the back of her neck to rise. She immediately straightened, turning towards the direction of the gut-wrenching sound.
She grinned, a glint of white showing in the bright moonlight, and took off in that same direction, the end of her red cloak vanishing into the shadows, leaving no evidence of her presence in the woods, except for one tiny detail.
A shining red 'R' carved into the furry body of the poor, dead animal.
