PART III

"I'm telling you! He was here! Are you sure that you never saw him leave?" Baekhyun yelled as he pointlessly searched around the house as if he would find Chanyeol hiding. "Stop. Baekhyun! I SAID STOP!" Kyungsoo bellowed as he gripped his fringe in frustration. Baekhyun was taken aback.

Kyungsoo sat down on his bed beside Baekhyun. He covered his face and turned away from the latter. Warm tears streamed down his face. He's been suppressing it for the past few weeks.

Baekhyun was still in shock but he approached Kyungsoo anyway. He tried to remove Kyungsoo's hands away from his face but he just shook him off. Instead, he kicked a box from under his bed and pointed it. Baekhyun sheepishly picked it up. His hands were shaking and he was sweating furiously. He opened the box only to see a photo.

It was a photo of him and Chanyeol.

Suddenly, pictures and scenes flashed in his head.

Meeting Chanyeol for the first time in the coffee shop. Chanyeol buying him his favourite strawberry smoothie. Chanyeol playing the guitar as he sang along. Staying up all night talking with him on the phone. Going out on a desolated park with him one night when it suddenly lit up, Chanyeol kneeling down and asking him to be his.

Them talking about stars and cosmology afterwards as their fingers intertwined. Sharing their first kiss. Spending their first night together. Them talking about finishing school and getting married. Him waiting on the same coffee shop for Chanyeol when... When he received a message from Kyungsoo.

Baekhyun. Hospital now.

Everything then was replaced by screaming and crying. Someone restrained him as he struggled from their grip to reach the figure covered with a white blanket upon just reaching the hospital.

Baekhyun's head hurt as he gripped it. He soon started screaming as the pain seared him. The pain that is splitting his head on half was nothing compared to the pain he is feeling right now. He was screaming and crying as he lost his footing and slumped on the floor. Kyungsoo reached out for him and took him in his arms.

"I'm so sorry Baekhyun. I'm so sorry I couldn't tell you. The doctors strictly told me not to. But you know, he loved you so much. He loved you more than anything else. Baekhyun, please listen to me" Kyungsoo pushed Baekhyun back to look at him in the eyes. "Chanyeol told me to give this to you".

He wiped the stray tear that was dangling off his chin and stood up to get something from his closet. He fished out a tiny box from a pocket of one of his coats and gave it to Baekhyun.

Baekhyun didn't know if he was going to feel delighted or sorrow as he stared down the ring that glimmered before him.

Along with that was a note.

"There may be brighter stars out there in the universe, but nothing else could outshine you.

Stars might grow dim and die but my love for you is eternal.

I love you, Byun Baekhyun."
