"So, Devin, what exactly is going on?" Kuza asked him, after sitting down with him at the kitchen table.

"Well, a new guy moved into the neighborhood," Devin started.

"Really? Why would someone want to move to that dump?" Kuza laughed.

"He told me he wanted to get away from the city. Doesn't surprise me, honestly," Devin shrugged. "Anyway, I decided it would be fun to haunt someone new, you know? It gets kinda boring playing around with the same people day after day."

"So, what happened after you started haunting him?"Kuza inquired.

"Well, uh, he was pretty creeped out at first," Devin began. "But, once he got over the fact that I'm a ghost, he was intrigued. He kept asking me questions, and made me prove that I'm actually a ghost. And then, he... He ended up wanting me to keep him company. So, I did, for the afternoon, then I left him alone, and I returned in the morning to try to do some actual haunting. I messed with him a bit, and I continued to do that throughout the day, and I did it for a few days. Then, once he got a job, I started following him to work, and freaking him out a bit there. But, no matter what I did, he didn't end up hating me, like the rest of the townspeople did. He... He actually cared about me, Kuza. And, basically, what my problem is, is that I... I think I care about him, too."

"You know, if you weren't dead, I'd be happy for you right now," Kuza said. "But, as I just said, you're dead. You're a supernatural creature. You can't get close with him, Dev, you just can't. He'll be put in danger. Plus, you won't be able to be together forever in the first place. His soul might end up resting in peace, unlike yours, which would obviously end your relationship. And then, of course, there's the fact that when he does die, he'll more than likely be older than 70. So, unless you want to date a 70 year old or older while your form is stuck at the age of 22, that'll end your relationship, too."

"Jesus, you don't have to be so negative about it," Devin responded with a sigh.

"I'm just trying to warn you, Dev," Kuza protested. "Do you really want to put someone you care about, or yourself, in danger?"

"No," Devin replied, shaking his head.

"That's what I thought," Kuza said. "Look, I think it's in your best interest to follow my advice, and not get involved with that guy any more than you already have. That way, whatever feelings you have for him won't develop anymore."

"Yeah, that sounds good," Devin nodded. "But it's gonna be difficult. Especially being stuck in that town."

"Well, you could always stay here for a while," Kuza offered.

"Yeah?" Devin asked.

"Yeah," Kuza smiled.

"Did you guys really have to call a meeting here right now?" Angelo asked.

"Yeah, you guys kind of... Interrupted something," Ryan spoke up, a light blush rising to his cheeks.

"Aw, gross," Balz said. "I'm not even gonna ask."

"Hey, look, in our defense, we never really-" Angelo started.

"Yeah, yeah, we get the point," Chris interrupted. "We really don't need to know about your sexual endeavors."

"Okay, look, we called this meeting to discuss Ghost," Balz spoke.

"Yeah, I've got this theory that may help us figure out why he just disappeared," Chris responded.

"Well, let's hear it," Angelo said.

"Well, I think that Ghost is possessing one of the townspeople again," Chris explained.

"And why do you think that?" Ryan questioned.

"Look, as far as everyone knows, Ghost can't leave this town," Chris began. "He's trapped in the place that he died. So, unless there's some other location that trapped spirits can access, he must still be around here somewhere. And considering the sky's been clear, the air hasn't been cold, and we haven't seen Ghost or felt his presence, I figure he must be possessing someone living here."

"I suppose that makes sense," Angelo nodded.

"But the question is, who would he be possessing?" Balz asked.

"That's what I'm trying to figure out," Chris told him.

--------------------------------------------

Ricky was starting to get sick of spending his nights all alone. It hadn't been long at all since Ghost's disappearance, but to Ricky, it felt like it had been ages since he had last seen the ghastly boy.

It wasn't until the disappearance that Ricky realized how much he was actually beginning to fall for the spirit. It wasn't until now that he realized how his heart would beat faster when Ghost was around. How often Ghost could make him smile and blush. How he got butterflies in his stomach whenever Ghost told him he'd return soon.

Ricky still didn't understand why everyone thought Ghost was so terrible. I mean, sure, he did kill his sister when he was alive, but he didn't really mean to. It's not like he deliberately planned her murder or anything, it happened completely by chance.

But that was what the townspeople didn't quite understand.

Ghost didn't wish death upon them at all. He knew it himself, death wasn't the most fun. All he wanted to do was creep them out a bit, nothing more. And that's all he ever did to them. It was all in good fun.

And that's all he ever did to Ricky, too. Ricky didn't see what was so awful about giving someone a bit of a scare.

Ghost had never harmed Ricky, the way the townspeople thought he did. He just freaked him out majorly at first. Then, he messed with his head a little bit with some of his ghostly powers. That was all.

Or, at least, that was all for now.

Because the thing was, Ricky had no clue as to what Ghost's absence would do to him.

Sure, right now, he was just sad about Ghost being gone. But, as weeks went by, all it would do is get worse. And worse. And worse. It would just keep getting worse for Ricky, until he reached a breaking point.

But he didn't know that yet. He had no idea that Ghost was going to drive him mad.

In fact, Ghost was going to drive him mad without even being around.
