Chapter 1 // Stay Low

"Did you know that April girl?"
I look up from the book I was reading.
"She was mikey's girlfriend, she was nice, for the most part, but something was wrong. Some weird vibe I got from her."
Ashton huffs and sits down in the pentagram.
The bed dips down, and Calum's laying next to me.
Luke slams the room door closed as he walks in.
"We can go home, it's safe now."
I stand up.

"Ashton, Luke there's a spare bedroom to the left of the steps."
They nod and walk up the steps.
"And where exactly am I sleeping?"
"The couch."
His jaw hangs open.
I laugh.
"I'm just kidding you can crash in my room."
He runs up the stairs.
I follow him.

"So what exactly is Ashton?"
Calum intertwines our hands.
"You'll have to ask him that."
"Wow."
The door bell rings.
"Who the hell could that be?"
I stand up, with Calum following.
As I approach the door, someone's pounding on it.
I open it.
"Michael what are you doing here?"
He stumbles in, shutting the door behind him, and locking it.
"Can I crash here for ton- Calum what are you doing here?"
"I could ask you the same question."
"I-"
There's a loud crash outside.
"Max, I think it's best if you go upstairs-"
"Everything okay?"
Ashton and Luke are standing behind Calum.
There's a tension in the air.
"What the fuck are you two doing here."
"We-"
Michael lunged at them, but Luke stars to shimmer, causing Michael to grab Ashton by the throat.
He backs him into a wall.
"Who sent you?"
Ashton's face starts to crack the stone, and his eyes turn darker.
"I came to protect the Ahriman, now let me go."
Ashton kicks him.
He falls.
"Michael I think you should go."
"What? Max-"
"She said go Michael, now leave."
Calums eyes are gold.
He unlocks the door.
"Max just be careful."
The door shuts and I lock it.
