I sat by and watched as Cisco and Hallie had a conversation in fluent Spanish, only being able to understand a few select words that I was positive they were using just to throw me off. I kept hearing carrot and purple, and I thought that they were just screwing with me since Hallie knew that I would always try to figure out what she was saying whenever she talked to her family. I knew that their conversation started out with them talking about how both of their families came from different parts of Puerto Rico, and I could understand that Hallie was talking about her mom and her sister before they started using words and verbs that I didn't understand. Trying to translate their words was enough to give me a vicious headache, but I couldn't stop myself from trying to decipher their conversation.

Barry had been talking to Joe on the phone for the past few minutes in an attempt to get a location on Hartley's house. It was a long shot, but he figured that the police might be able to help us since we had absolutely no leads. I was planning on going back to the precinct with him to talk things through with Singh and see if I could get my job back. I'd been going through dozens of possible stories to tell him, and I was hoping that he would believe whichever one I decided to tell him. I didn't want to bother myself with thinking about him rejecting me, so I just thought positively. I knew that it was a long shot that he would believe me, but I needed to at least try to get out of the disgusting job I had now. I wouldn't be able to survive there, so I was willing to at least try at this point.

Barry hung up his phone and turned to me as Hallie and Cisco started talking about something to do with animals. "Joe said that his task force is going to start running some background checks on Hartley to see if they can get a hit on where he's been hiding out."

I nodded. "Okay. Is Singh busy?"

He shook his head. "No. Joe said that he's just been in his office catching up on paperwork. It's the perfect opportunity for you to talk to him."

I inhaled with a soft smile. "Then let's do this."

"Good luck, Bones." Hallie bid, taking her eyes off of Cisco to smile at me.

"Thanks, Hal. I'll tell you how it goes later."

She nodded, and Barry ran both of us out of S.T.A.R. Labs and towards the precinct. It had been a while since I'd run with Barry, and I had almost forgotten what it felt like. While the sheer velocity of the wind in my face wasn't all that desirable, the feeling of being so free and open was almost exactly like when I was flying. Flying was far more enjoyable, though, because I didn't have to worry about looking like I had just gone 100 miles per hour in a wind tunnel. I could take my time and make sure that I didn't get bugs in my teeth, but I wasn't going to complain about having Barry hold me close to him when he was running. It made me feel incredibly safe and secure, and, if I had the ability to, I would stay in that exact position for the rest of my life.

When Barry stopped running, we were right outside of the precinct. The familiar building tugged at my heartstrings, memories of one of the happiest times of my life flooding back to me at an accelerated rate. I hadn't realized that I had missed working here this much, and I was beginning to put all of my hope and faith into Singh hearing me out and believing my story. He really had no reason not to other than thinking that either he or I was crazy, but I highly doubted that it would get to that point. Barry put his hand on my shoulder, and I tore my eyes away from the towering structure to look up at him. He was smiling softly at me, hope swimming in his beautiful cerulean eyes. I was glad that he was as hopeful about this meeting as I was. It meant a lot to me that he actually enjoyed working with me and that he actually cared about whether or not I was happy with where I was working.

"You ready to do this?" He asked.

I nodded confidently. "I am."

His smile grew, and he kissed my cheek before taking my hand in his, both of us starting up the steps to the building. I walked confidently through the lobby of the building, feeling at home like I had when I was working here. Most of the people we passed looked incredibly familiar, but none of them seemed to notice my presence, making this walk a little easier on me. While I was sure that this wouldn't end in a disappointing way, I couldn't stop the anxiety that was slowly rising in my stomach. I knew that it was due to the lingering doubt that was nagging me, and I pushed the thoughts to the furthest recesses of my mind as to not distract myself from staying confident in my endeavor.
