Totsuki Culinary

Totsuki, a school where the graduating rate is 10%. Students are taught gastronomy and basic skills in their junior years, but the courses turn hellish in the senior section. Those who can't get an A is immediately deducted to an E, otherwise F for fail.

"Totsuki? Why would I go there?"

Yukihira Sei, 15 years old. Her father Joichiro was once an elite student there, but he left school before he even graduated and started to travel around the world gaining various of knowledge in the culinary world. She also followed him in his travels while they sometimes stayed at their home in Ibaraki where he opened a diner. Even at a young age she shows great talent in cooking but her passion is that of non-existent. She puts her whole heart in helping her father and prefers to avoid troublesome things, in this situation, Totsuki.

"You're a teenager, you're supposed to enjoy school life-," her father said matter of factly. School, the sound of that word brings nothing but displeasure to her. Due to the fact that they travel a lot, it never came to their minds that she needs to attend school. It's one of the things that she tends to avoid.

"-Besides, you can try out your skills there. You know that I was once a student there,"

"You didn't even graduate," she dead panned. Sometimes she doesn't understand what's in his head. He's just so casual and laid-back that she couldn't imagine why he's a chef. But what could she say, she's the same as him when it came to their lazy attitude, hers being more of to avoid trouble. They're like father like daughter.

"Sei, it's a good chance to see the world and I mean by meeting people you don't know who has talent just like you. It's not just about travelling if you never compete with others same age as you. There're are even people whose talents surpasses their age,"

At this he put away the pan he was using into the sink and untied his apron. He couldn't help but sigh at his daughter's passive way of thinking. He knows that she isn't good with people but he still tries. She isn't proud, arrogant or cocky, just too anti-social. He knows that there's an absolutely slim chance of anyone her age could surpass her including those older, but without a little push she'd always remain the same. And....

"I already signed you up. The director agreed without a second thought,"

Sei, who was sitting at the kitchen counter almost blanched when she heard this. He knows her soft spot is her father and on any occasion would already submit, just like in this situation. She looked up from her position and gave him a long stare. In the end she only nodded her head while resuming to rearranging the diner's menu.

The next day arrived unusually quick and she can be seen walking down a street in the academy's uniform. It's her first time wearing one that she promised him to take good care of it. Her father handed it to her last night along with other applications.

After a few streets down, Totsuki's gate came insight. She couldn't understand why the school grounds was built on a mountain other than the fact that the family is very rich. A few feet from the gate, two males were crying out in frustration about their ruined career in cooking while an old man was begging a security guard to let his son continue his studies by bribing him, but it seems of no use. It did little to pique her interest. If she got kicked out, she'll make sure it won't be because of her cooking.

Last night she got some insights from her father about this school. He told her about the vicious regime and trials freshmen goes through in their first year as senior, and even spill some information about the teachers, in case it came in handy.

Entering school grounds, she saw a guard waiting a few feet away. She was told by her father to tell her name and the man would lead her to the open hall where she would be giving a speech. She followed the guard to a secured waiting area at the backstage and that someone would inform her when it's her turn to give her speech.
