I was only 14 when I ran away. I had seen to much. My whole family murdered in front of me, being forced to live with people you have never even met before. The constant abuse and bullying. Ever since I could remember, I have just wanted to fit in. But one day they took it too far, I chose the risk. I left everything behind, to start fresh. A new life away from the past. I can't escape this now.

When I was 13 I saw something that most people would never wish to see in their lifetime. It was late night when our family decided to go shopping.

I was checking out some toys when a gunman came in asking the cashier for money. I hid in the clothes rack, me being the coward I am. The cashier feeling scared gave him the money but the gunman was ruthless. He shot the cashier twice in the head and my parents and older brother for being witnesses. When I ran towards my parents they had already passed from this world to the next.

Hot, thick blood was oozing out from their foreheads. Holes going thru their foreheads and out the back of their skulls. I didn't know what to do. I must have cried and screamed at Fate for being so merciless.

But soon enough the police and paramedics where there and took my family away. I didn't even get to say goodbye. Little did I know that was the last time I would ever see them again.

The last thing I remember is passing out at looking at the dam of blood that has been broken when they lifted my family away.

The next morning I woke up in the middle of the hospital. That's when realization hit me. Where would I go? I would have to stay with someone. As far as I'm concerned, I had no extensive family.

"Luke Alexander Fletcher" the nurse came in and said. I hated being refereed to by my full name.

"Yeah that's me" I replied. She came in with breakfast and plopped it down next to me. As far as I was concerned hospital food tasted really bad. It did, god it tasted like Mum's meatloaf. At that, I began to have bad memories.

"Also your uncle and aunt are here to take you home" at that I perked up. What as far as I'm concerned Dad or Mum had no siblings. It must have been their cousins or something.

"Okay, tell them that I'll meet them once I get changed. Thanks for informing me" I told the nurse and she gave me a lop-sided smile. I got changed and left to meet my so called Uncle and Aunt.

It was at this moment I knew that my life was about to be turned upside down.
