One single decision can alter your life forever.  Whether you go left or right, say yes or no, or choose to take advantage of an opportunity.   No one ever thinks about what these little details can do to your life or how they can make you who you are.  Something so big should take a little more thought and consideration, but most people just go about their lives recklessly, not stopping to think about the "what if's".  There is an infinite combination of ways for a single person's life to turn out, all one has to do is be wise enough to consider both options and decide if it's worth the risk.

Karli has always been too cautious with her life.  She never takes chances and always chooses the high road, which has allowed her to sail untouched though life.  She has never suffered heartbreak, and therefore never felt love, a trade off which she found acceptable.  What was the deal with love anyways?  Were a few kisses really worth having someone consume your every thought and make your life hell?  Was it really worth all the hype people gave it?  Karli didn't think so, and she therefore turned down every date she had ever been asked on.  What she didn't realize was that by not chasing love, it would come to her.

Liam's cautiousness was less of a choice and more from fear.  He never tried out for the soccer team in fear of being turned down.  He never auditioned for the talent show because he was scared they would laugh.  Sure he regrets not doing the things he loved because of fear, but it all evened out in his mind.  He was never praised for his athletic or singing talent, but he was also never rejected or ridiculed.  To Liam, that was worth it.  Fame and popularity weren't worth the humiliation.  But popularity was overrated, right?  Who need all of that when you had a few good friends and desk job to look forward to?

Karli woke up that morning sick with a bad cold.  She was given two choices: stay home and miss being assigned the most important project because she didn't know it was today, or go to school and fall in love.  She didn't know that making the choice to take a few cold pills and toughing out a day of school would change her life, but it did.

Liam woke that morning with a terrible feeling about the day.  He just knew something bad was going to happen, he just didn't know what.  His feeling was only confirmed when he looked in the mirror and saw a huge zit on his forehead, forcing him to wear a hat he hates.  Then the shoelace to his favorite pair of Converse broke, so it was forced to wear an old pair of Vans.  He needed something to cheer him up, so he stopped for a coffee and pastry at his favorite bakery on the way to school, making him late for first period.  He didn't know that being late to school would change his life forever, but it did.

As he rushed to class, the strap of Liam backpack broke, spilling his papers everywhere.  Karli had been running passes for the office first period when she came across the scene.  She didn't know Liam, and Liam didn't know Karli, but it didn't stop her from being the nice girl she is and helping him pick up the papers.  As they finished stacking them, Liam looked up and met Karli's eyes with his brown ones, being pleasantly surprised that such a beautiful girl would help someone like him out.

"Thanks," Liam said with a smile, which Karli returned.  Suddenly, Liam was forced to make a very important decision.  He could either ask this girl he didn't know out for a date with the possibility of falling in love, or just walk away to avoid the sure rejection his brain told him would happen.  Was it worth the risk?  Could he put his heart out on the line?  What if she said no?  What if she said yes?
