Dear lonely tree,
what is wrong with thee?
Are you hurting?
Though you have no heart -
Only leaves and bark?
Do you sometimes wish you've grown,
to be with the other trees
in the park?
Are you especially sad
when you remember to know
that you are still alone
even while the sun dips low?
When the sun becomes a moon
and the sky is dripped in ink
Do you rather fancy yourself
to be just about anything else
than of a lonely tree
standing
all
alone?
