Chapter 2: Preparing for the Yuleball

When Ron got back from Quidditch practise, he couldn't stop thinking about hermione. He loved her laugh, He loved her smile, He loved her eyes, He loved her hair. But then he realised, what he wanted all along. Something deep inside changed him. He realised he loved hermione. She had always been there for him, and he was so jealous when Mclaggen treated her like that. Ron knew that he had some feelings for hermione but he always treated them like a brotherly-sisterly love. But now things were different. He loved hermione.

That morning in the great hall, Harry, Ron and hermione all sat together like every other morning. hermione read deeply into her new 'potions master class guide' Ron remembered because he accidentally burned hers while they were partners last year trying to make a ageing potion. Even though hermione was annoyed with him, it was the funniest potion lesson Ron and hermione ever had. Ron laughed to himself. Harry was reading his newest letter from Sirius in secret but didn't mind either Ron or hermione noticing. Ron tried not to yawn but failed miserably. "You okay Ron?" Hermione asked " you seem really tired. did you have a good night last night?" Ron quickly replied " not really, I was to busy thinking about, the quidditch match last night."

After breakfast, the three left for divination. but to their surprise to the room had been cleared leaving a giant space in the room. Professor mcgonagall ushered the children into the corners of the room "this way children, we are doing something new today!" She said excitedly. After she got the students to sit down Harry asked "Professor what are we doing?" Mcgonagall turned to the students announcing "we are preparing for the annual Yule ball!"

"Yule ball?"Ron questioned "it's a traditional dance for the quidditch World Cup, and I have been asked to teach you the dance" mcgonagall replied. Mcgonagall droned on a bit about her Yule ball days, but Ron wasn't listening. He was staring at hermione. He traced his thoughts about her last night. He wanted to let her know how he felt about her, but rons low self confidence would never bring him to it. Ron turned back to mcgonagall to hear her finish "you may ask someone to the dance, boys ask girls" Ron thought to himself "maybe it's my chance, to show hermione how I really feel, what if she feels the same way" Ron sighed when mcgonagall noticed him not listening. "all right weasley, if you are not listening, I will need you to help me demonstrate!" Ron sighed and trailed his way up to the front, while the class laughed. Ron was embarrassed but didn't mind the class laughing, he actually liked it when he noticed hermione giggle about it.

After class Harry and Ron walked out without hermione, as she walked ahead with Cormac, talking about the Yule ball. Ron stared in jealousy but was interrupted by Fred and George "we already have our dates for the dance" Fred said " we asked them while Ron was dancing his heart out with mcgonagall!" George added, Harry Fred and George laughed at Ron. "Oh shut up you two" Ron lashed, as he stared at Cormac and hermione exchanging each other looks. "woooh, Cooey George, I think Ronnie has a fancy for granger!" Harry looked over "Ron?! Really?"he said in interest "what?! No way! Me and hermione are just... friends." "Look Ron, if you want to ask her, I would move quickly, looks like she's under Cormacs spell and he's giving her the look" George pointed out. "The look?" Harry and Ron questioned " yeah you know, the look what boys use to try and get girls attention" Ron looked away from the two flirting and lowers his voice "okay then, I will ask her tonight, but you have to help me, what if I mess up and look like a fool? There is no way I can be like Cormac , he's too good..." Ron sighed as he glanced again at the two again. "Ron, you are talking to the ladies men, we won't let you down" Fred reassured.
