Jesse's POV:

What am I supposed to do? It's been two months and he hasn't responded to my letter. Conner won't tell me anything. I can hear him strumming his guitar in the other room. Even if I walked in there bawling he wouldn't tell me anything. I tried asking around town nobody else knows or if they do they won't tell me. I roll over on my bed and try to think of ways to regain my memory. Then it hit me. Not a memory but a sudden food craving, it's a weird side affect to the medications I'm on for my pain. "Conner, let's go get ice cream I don't know why but I really want some mint chocolate chip ice cream"

Conner popped his head into my room and gave me a confused stare before bluntly stating "you hate mint chocolate chip ice cream you always liked pralines and cream. You got mint chocolate chip once a couple years ago trying to change it up you hated it so much you made me trade you my french vanilla"

That is news to me. THAT IS NEWS TO ME!!! He finally told me something about my past self yes it is trivial but it also tells me something about myself. "Does that mean we can go get ice cream these meds make me crave the craziest shit and right now I want some ice cream mint chocolate chip was just the first flavor that came to mind"

He lightly smiled at me before he threw my door open and put an arm around me. I think that means yes but I never got a clear answer. I may still have some memories but some actions I don't fully understand. This, I believe, means yes so I walked calmly next to him as he lead me out of the house and into town. "Where are we going I don't recall any ice cream shops being down this way. He lead me around a couple of corners before coming to a stop in front of a small shop called Cones and  Scones I thought it was cute. "that slogan is incredibly stupid 'our food is so good you'll think our chefs are magic' everyone know magic is made up and only children believe in it"

The shop was surprisingly large on the inside but it was incredibly dull white tile walls, white tile floors, and a white counter. I felt strangely comfortable here. I looked around the establishment while Conner ordered. There were white tables and chairs off to one side there was only one other person in the place a quiet looking girl. She smoothed her black hair and continued to read a book. "Here" I jumped at the sound of Conner's voice "this is your favorite ice cream you will  remember why when you have a taste"

He smiled at me. With all my memories his smile seemed so bright but now it seemed scared and unsure of what to do. I smiled back at him and licked my ice cream. I only got one lick before my head started throbbing. I collapsed onto the floor and almost started screaming when something hit me this time a memory. But it was from my point of view now. I saw a small me walk in order ice cream and walk up to the back wall and yelled fireball. The wall slid open and I walked in that's all i have to go on. The pain subsided and I got up.

Conner and the girl were both hovering around me Conner kept calling her Anna. I moved to the back wall when my head started to hurt again less than before so I kept pushing. I stood at the wall and I knocked on it. Nothing happened. Anna walked over "Jesse ... there isn't anything back there anymore Leazelfrom passed away not to long after you lost your memory. The mages packed up and moved to the demon realm for further study"

I stared at her completely stunned. I felt crushed, I don't know why. My knees gave out leaving me sitting on the floor feeling crushed and confused. "Wait wait wait who are you? Who's Leazlefrom? Mages? Demon Realm? What are you talking about?"

Then it was back. The pain wrapped around my entire body and continued to squeeze in until I was left on the floor gasping for air. Then in they rushed all my memories from my skills to my magic to my deal with the judge. "NO I can't regain my memory or he'll be set free I need a way to see the judge immediately"

Conner grabbed my hand "if you need help I'm here" Anna nodded "We can help just tell us what to do"

I stood up and ran out of the shop leaving both of them in the dust this is, after all, my problem. I found a small ally I could stop in. The moment I stopped I cast spell zero hoping that the stories about using it without a target will cause a black slit to open allowing you to speak with her. Sure enough a black slit appeared in the wall next to me. I pulled lightly to open it farther. Then I was pulled in. A kindly old woman sat wearing sunglasses. "So you regained your memory?" I nodded "Well that wouldn't make you the first. I take memories and watch them when nothing is going on in the world. So I spend a lot of time watching memories and sometimes the person somehow breaks the contract we had and gets there memories back like you"

She crossed her arms and chuckled lightly to herself. Shaking her head she reached out to me. "Ma'am does this mean are deal is broken? I will give anything to prevent that. I know I promised you my memory but obviously that didn't work out quite right so is there anyway you can forgive me and just take something else"

She pulled me closer to her placing her forehead against mine. I didn't realize how large she was until then she must have been at least 20 feet tall. She pulled back from me. "Child, I do not want anything from you. I applaud your willingness to sacrifice. That is why I will take nothing further from you and let you have your powers back seeing as how I have no use for them"

Suddenly, I was back in the alley. I leaned on the wall for a moment trying to process what just happened. I have my powers but no reason for them. I have my memory and my life back but I don't know what I'm going to do with myself I have quite a few skills but most of them are fighting skills. A soft hand touched my back Bringing me back to reality "Hey, Jess there was a demon attack uptown want to go check it out"

And then I lived happily ever after. Demons occasionally appeared but they still became crazy in our world. Conner and I handled them eventually passing the job down to our kids. I finally got my response from Windios he told me that I was his best friend and the greatest human ever. I never grew tired of my life and I continue to learn to this day. Conner and I hope you enjoyed hearing our story.
