"Miss Kringle, please!" I begged. Kristen was just about to walk out the door. "I'm not that man!"

"You are a psychopath! And a monster!" She pointed at me and turned to the door.

I ran to her and grabbed her arms. She started to scream for help so I grabbed her around the neck and put my hand over her mouth.

"Listen to me! I am not the man you think I am. I would never do anything to hurt you. I had to kill him, because he hit you. Do you understand that? I did it for you. I promise I will never do anything to hurt you ever again. I love you. I've loved you since the first moment that I saw you." At this moment, I had a huge grin on my face, proud of my speech. I let go of her.

She wasn't moving.

A concerned look crawled onto my face.

"Kristen?"

She slid down the wall.

"Kristen?" I asked again.

I realised.

"Oh no no no no no,"

I went to listen to her breathing.

She wasn't.

"No..."

I woke up with a jolt, realising I was in a chair. I tried to move but I was tied to it.

I cursed under my breath and squirmed about, trying to break free.

Nope.

I looked around the room, it had metal walls and the floor was metal too.

Am I in Arkham's basement?

Suddenly, the door opened and there stood Dr. Crane.

I glared at him.

"What do you think you are playing at?" I growled.

He smirked and kneeled down in front of me.

"I'm using you as an experiment. Did I not say that already?" He replied.

He got up and walked to the corner of the room where there was a big briefcase.

"I thought you were-"

"Do I look like a man that is joking?" He turned around and looked at me seriously.

I kept silent.

"Take that as a no." He picked up the briefcase and walked back over to me.

"Whatever you are going to do, is it going to kill me?" I asked, terrified at what he was going to inject me with again.

"Probably, probably not," he said, casually, getting a needle from his case and testing it, "depends on the intensity." He looked back at me.

"Ready?"

I took a deep breath and nodded.

He gave a big, toothy, evil grin and injected the needle into me.

I groaned in pain and squeezed my eyes shut.

"Open your eyes!" He demanded.

I did what I was told, and when I did, Kristen was standing right in front of me.

"What do you see?" He asked me.

"I-I see my dead girlfriend, th-that I killed about ten years ago. I killed her by accident." I added quickly, not to mislead him.

He flashed his teeth at me again and muttered a "Brilliant."

He closed the briefcase and headed for the door.

"Where are you going?" I shouted.

He turned around slowly.

"I have a job to attend to." He replied simply.

"Wh-a-are you just going to leave me here?" I stuttered, still confused at what's going on.

"Obviously?" He said in a question-type-manner.

Crane said no more and walked out, leaving me alone, in the dark, cold, damp room.

"I love you. I've loved you ever since the first moment that I saw you."
