Chapter 13: Games

Me and Adam walk into a huge house with tons of people inside and I immediately get nervous as they stare at me. Their smiles seem kind but it's still frightening.

" Mom this is Ariel it's ok if she stays with us right? "

His mom smiles at me and steps forward I flinch thinking she's going to hit me but then I'm pulled into her arms.

I've seen people at school do this but I've never done this before

( she's talking about a hug! )

I wince slightly from the pain and the lady seems to notice and pulls away.

" Are you alright sweetie? "

She ask worried.

" I'm fine. "

" Ariel can you come with me? "

Adam ask and I nod following him into a room down the hall. The whole room is white and I sit down on the bed as a man comes in a white long coat with gloves on.

" I need to examine her can you leave the room please? "

The man ask Adam and my eyes go wide. I grab Adam's hand before he can respond.

" No Adam stays I won't let you do anything unless he's here. "

I tell him bravely. The man looks at Adam and Adam nods then the man comes up to me and lifts up my shirt up. I start freaking out thinking he's taking off my clothes and I grab onto Adam.

" It's okay Ariel he's only making sure your not hurt. "

Adam says calming me down.

" Well Ariel this isn't good but mostly it will heal although some scars will be there for ever. "

He tells me.

" You have many bruises and broken ribs so you need to stay in bed for a while to heal also you need much more food your at a very unhealthy weight for your age. Tell me how much do you usually eat? "

" Twice every two weeks usually. "

The man looks at me with sad eyes and I hear Adam growl.

" Well I'm sure Adam will feed you plenty to get you up to a healthy weight. Come back next week so I can make sure your healing ok. "

" Alright thank you. "

I hop down from the bed and follow Adam out.

" I know it may be annoying but you need to stay in bed and rest. I will keep you company and we can watch movies and talk and play games. "

I stop in my tracks.

" Play games? "

I choke out.

" Yeah what you don't like games? "

He ask seeing my flushed face.

" Time to play a game little sis make sure to behave. "

Steven said kissing down my stomach as he held my hands over my head.

" Don't worry it won't be that long as long as you play along. "

" I don't want to play games "

I tell Adam my eyes tearing up.

" Hey what's wrong? "

He ask cupping my face and I flinch.

" You want to hurt me I thought you were nice. "

I sob.

" What are you talking about Ariel? I would never hurt you. "

" You said you want to play games. "

He looks at me confused before gently leading me over to a bookshelf nearby and pulling out a small rectangle box that reads Monopoly.

" This is the kind of game I was talking about what were you talking about? "

I look at the box confused. I have never played any game except for Steven's games.

I gulp and bravely tell him the truth.

" Steven would always say it was time to play a game before he..... "

I bite back a sob and continue.
