Ky and I have a long drive ahead of us. I'm going to try to make us somewhere in Vegas in at least five hours.

In the past two, there hasn't been a lot of talking. Ky came in quickly to pack a couple of items that she 'will be needing' for the trip. Right now, she is focused on her computer. She made sure that her phone is turned off. Well, I kind of wanted her phone to be off. She can save the calls for the hotel room.

One thing that I need to worry about right now is how I am going to make it to Virginia in only a few days time. Should I just drive across the country? It would only take at least one-hundred hours. The only problem with that is it's easier for the Injected to follow us.

She's with me, we'll be fine... I reassure myself.

I guess driving across the country could work.

After a couple more minutes of silence, I hear Ky speak.

"I'm hungry," she says, slamming her computer shut.

I guess I am to, just, not that hungry. Food really wouldn't kill me at the moment.

"Well," I reply, looking around. "There's a Burger King if you want anything from there..."

"That wouldn't be too bad."

I sigh, turning my blinkers onto my right.

"Want to go inside? I'd like to buy time to search for a hotel or something," I offer her.

"Whatever works for you."

"We're pulling over then."

We walk into the building, fill in our order, then find a small table in the corner of the room.

We probably look like two normal teenagers, deciding to get a small after school snack or something.

We're not. Both of us may not have been through beyond normal, but there is no doubt that there is a lot yet to come. Plus, I don't think that it's normal being dragged around by some random stranger but hey... These are just my thoughts...

"So what's the plan?" Ky asks.

"Well, the designated area is in Virginia, so-"

She cats me off, "WHAT?! You didn't tell me it was in-"

"You never asked what the plan was until now!" I snap back.

"You could have at least told me before..."

"Oh, so you thought that your neighbor was going to find a way to hide you from them, even after these two hours of driving? Guess what, Ky? We're going to Virginia! How exciting!"

She sighs, "listen, get it, you're probably used to dragging people around and taking them to this same place, I'm pretty damn sure that I'm not wrong. Well, due to the fact that this has happened all in under twenty-four hours and that there is a lot on my mind from then, things have kind of been stressful in case you haven't realized. After some sleep, I'll start thinking straighter." It shocks me because Ky does not sound like she's squawking a protest. She actually sounds kind of... Pitiful... Like she's sorry...

"I understand you, it's just, been a while," I comfort her. "I was twelve when I was chosen as the victim. A boy my age wasn't the one trying to convince me to fly across the country. It was a middle aged man. He wouldn't leave me alone and I was afraid that I had to call the cops. It wasn't until he actually gave me evidence when I followed him."

A shocked smile plays on Ky's face, "that sounds terrible!" She says, "and you actually went with him? What did he say to make you believe him?"
