Kim Jongin, boy who had a secret, that no one knew about...

... and then there is Oh Sehun, boy who knew what that secret was right away

Sun was shining through the windows, making the dust that was circulating in the room perfectly visible. Kai was sitting at his desk, headphones, as usually stuck in his ears. He was listening to music one of his best buddies recommended to him. With his eyes bouncing from one classmate to another, he scanned the whole room full of people. He had to pay attention - just in case somebody called him. He hated these moments of surprise when his friends just jumped on him from behind. He couldn't hear them coming, but it wasn't because of headphones. It was because of his own irresponsibility, few years back. He loved music, and that was the biggest mistake in his life...

Chen was grinning at Kai. ''Sorry, I know you hate it, but I can't help it!'' Chen laughed. ''If you could just see your face! You always seem so dumbstruck.'' Chen sat on a chair next to Kai's. Kai was paying close attention to what Chen was saying. Headphones not in his ears anymore.

''I just hate it, will you ever stop, Chennie Chen?'' Kai muttered and put the music on again, ignoring Chen, looking at others again. After few seconds he turned around to face Chen again, because other hit him on the back of the head.

''Now you pretend you can't hear me? Just because of a joke?'' Chen pouted and Kai had to suppress smile that was about to spread across his face.

''Kim Jongdae, how can I be angry with you?'' Kai scoffed and pointed at Chen's pouting face. ''When you keep on doing this?'' He pushed Chen's face away to stop him from pouting any further.

That was when the bell rang. At least Kai thought so when everyone in the class fell quiet and returned to their seats. He put his earphones into the pocket of his bag and straightened in his seat, his gaze never leaving the door to their classroom. Their homeroom teacher, who was also teaching Geography was always late for his lessons, but today, to Kai's surprise he came into class a whole lot sooner.

He walked in with two thick books pressed tightly against his chest, straigjt towards his desk and put the books down. He then turned to his class and announced something. Something that Kai had a really hard time understanding, because their teacher, even though they loved him, couldn't talk properly, he was speaking without proper articulation, which annoyed Kai all the time ever since he joined this school.

While the teacher was still giving his all-day-long speech Kai nudged Chen with his elbow to ask him what he was saying. Chen rolled his eyes and under his breath he muttered. ''Are you deaf or what?'' Then Chen just slightly turned around, afraid to get caught for talking during class again, and repeated what he heard. ''Just that some guy will be transferring here. That he's different, so we should be polite...'' He made a pause. ''Like... I'm always polite.''

New guy? Kai turned his gaze back to the front. He was still talking! Kai palmed his face, probably too obviously, because when he looked around all the eyes in the room were on him. Chen hit him on the shoulder and jerked his chin at their homeroom teacher. When Kai looked forward, Mr. Choi's brows were furrowed and he was saying something he understood clearly. He articulated, but only when he was furious. ''Something's not to your liking?''

Kai shook his head vigorously. Mr. Choi just scoffed. ''Not paying attention to what I say as always, Jongin. Make sure it won't happen again.'' He paused for a second to push his glasses back to their place. ''I'll call him now, you guys be nice to him!'' He raised a finger to warn them all. He then gestured at someone outside to come in.

Kai's breath caught. Boy who walked in had face of an angel. His skin, unlike Kai's was pale, as if it was never kissed by the rays of sun. Strands of his black hair were covering his eyes. Boy stopped next to Mr. Choi and nervously looked around. He turned to their teacher who gestured him, probably gesturing to introduce himself. Boy took a deep breath. Straightening his back, he started gesturing with his hands - to others it was just movements of his arms, but Kai looked at the boy surprised. His name was Oh Sehun, he was nineteen years old and he changed schools because his family moved. Kai slammed his head on the desk, making everyone look at him. Why is life playing with him like this? What kind of fate is this?

He felt Chen nudge his elbow into the side of his waist. He straightened back up, Mr. Choi looking daggers at him, frowning deeply, his expression seemed as that of disappointment. ''Kim Jongin out! How dare you ignore me! You lie on your desk and don't even bother to respond? I'll call your parents right away!'' He shouted, but Kai couldn't hear him, his gaze shifted to that new boy who was looking straight at him, with widened eyes. He gestured something at Kai - Don't worry. And then he held Mr. Choi's arm to remind him of his presence. His attitude changed right away, as he started to pay attention to the new student, forgetting about Kai. When Sehun looked at Kai again after a while, Kai just quickly gestured Thanks, to which Sehun responded with a slight nod of his head.

Kai didn't quite get why would a deaf guy choose this school, there was no special treatment provided, and it seemed like Sehun couldn't read lips, judging from his confused look when his new classmates tried to talk to him. He kept on turning to Kai, as if to ask for his help. But when he saw that Kai didn't even budge, he just told them that they should write if they want him to understand. He took a pen and held it out to them. They were laughing. Laughing at the way he spoke.

Kai was a little disappointed in them. What did they expect? Poor boy can't hear his own voice! Kai should be glad that his voice sounded normal and nobody noticed. He knew how to use it, he knew how it sounded... but that new guy. Kai sighed, deep in his thoughts, but got distracted when Chen waved his hand in front of his face. ''Ignoring me again?'' Chen pouted. Again.

Kai twisted in his seat so that he was facing Chen. ''No, just thinking about him.'' He pointed behind him, to where Sehun was sitting. ''Aren't they plain ignorant? Like, he's deaf. He can't do much about the way he speaks, you know?'' Kai's frown deepened.

Chen wriggled his eyebrows. ''Aye, somebody is interested.''

''That's not it, why do you always think that I like someone when I even-'' He was stopped by Chen's hand on his mouth.

''Not talking about ya, over there.'' He pointed behind Kai. Kai turned abruptly to find Sehun, so obviously looking at him. When Kai's eyes met with Sehun's, Sehun turned swiftly, his cheeks turning a nice pink colour. Kai smiled to himself and turned to Chen, who was smiling smugly at Kai.

''What?'' Kai hissed at his friend, wiping that ridiculous smile off his own face.
