three; familiar

as soon as i entered
the all too familiar ring of the bell
filled my ears
and for some reason,
i could feel my lips curl into
a foreign smile
but i stopped it before
it would last any longer.
"hello!"
i continued to walk into
the store. pretending to not hear
the cheery voice.
he's annoying.
i reminded myself.
he's weird.
footsteps sounded from
behind me, and i felt
a hand tap my
shoulder.
i slowly turned around,
my eyes watching him
in narrowed slits.
i didn't say anything.
i just watched him
with that stupid familiar smile
and those stupid familiar blue eyes.
"do you need any help today?"
he finally asked, rocking back and forth on his heels.
"'no."
his stupid smile only grew wider
and he continued to watch me
pretend to browse the aisles.
