"What the fuck happened to him?" I practically yelled at the nurse.

I had been called when they found my picture in Dolf's wallet and my contact in his phone. The hospital staff were reluctant to tell me anything since we aren't related and it was really starting to piss me off.

"I want to see him now," I demanded.

"I'm sorry, but visiting hours are over and you're not related to him so you can't see him right now miss."

"I don't give a damn. Let me see him now." I gave up on asking and just walked past the nurse towards his room.

Dolf had gotten out of surgery an hour ago. That was about all they told me and I was not prepared for what I saw when I walked through those doors. Both of his legs were broken. He had an IV in his arm and one of his eyes was swollen shut. His whole body was covered in bruises and cuts with a particularly large and deep one along his right arm.

I froze when I walked in, but I collected myself and sat next to him, taking his hand in mine. I've always loved him and sometimes I think he feels the same, but I know that he'd never want to be more than friends. Not that I blame him.

I mean I'm not the prettiest girl in the world and I can be a little strange sometimes. I've never been confidant and during my last few years of high school I battled with depression. I guess the fact that adults always told me how perfect I was made me strive to be better and I found that I just couldn't reach it. Everything went downhill after I learned that my boyfriend of the time had been using me the whole year and a half we were together.

Dolf had helped me through that time and still does on occasion. He let me lean on him without asking anything in return. Seeing him like this brought back all the memories that brought us here to this day. He would have to stay with me because of this, not that I minded.

I was deep in thought and almost didn't notice when Dolf started to wake up, almost. I waited for him to look at me before I asked, "How are you?"

"In pain, but glad to see you," he said weakly.

"I don't know when they'll let you out of here, but they're going to end up kicking me out. I had to fight my way in here."

He smiled when I said that before asking, "What happened to me?"

"Some asshole ran a red light and t-boned you into a pole. They won't tell me about your injuries," I answered. "As soon as they let you leave you'll come back with me at least until you can look for a house."

Dolf managed to nod his head before he went unconscious again. I sat with him until the police officer on sight literally had to carry me out of the building. I drove home, a little recklessly, but I drove home. I barely slept that night. I was worried as hell about Dolf even though he should be fine and those damn hospital staff members better believe I'll be back first thing in the morning.
