It's been a week since I saw Billie Joe. I've been trying to avoid him. I decided that I needed to focus on the wedding. That was my priority, like it should be.
Today it was cake tasting. I invited Alexis and Maria because I didn't want to go alone and I wanted their opinion. Sebastian left for a business trip yesterday. He worked in an advertising agency and he said he'd be back in a week.
We had tasted some cakes now. Next was the red velvet. I took a bite of the piece. It was actually really good. And I loved the red color. I looked at the girls to see what they thought.
"So?" I asked them.
"I don't know. I mean this is really good and all but the carrot cake is calling me." Maria said.
"Yea," Alexis agreed, "something about it was too delicious to not be the cake at your wedding."
"Now that I think about it, I really liked that cake too." I said.
"You think Sebastian will like it?" Alexis asked.
"He said he'd be okay with whatever I chose."
"Where is Sebastian? Shouldn't the groom participate in these sort of things?" Maria asked as the woman came to pick up our plates.
"He's in a business trip. He'll be back next week." I explained.
"But this is important."
"Apparently so is the trip. It's in Chicago and he's been preparing for it for the past months. He's been at work till late for this project."
"I still think he should find time, though. You two should be enjoying this together."
"I know, Maria. I wish he had more time but work is work."
"So are you getting the carrot cake?" Alexis asked.
I laughed. "Yea, we're getting the carrot cake."
"Score!" Maria said and high-fived Alexis.
"Hey, I've been meaning to ask you two something." I said. They looked at me. "How will you girls like to be my bridesmaids?"
They looked shocked.
"Really?" Alexis whispered.
"Yea." I said and nodded.
"Hell yea we will!" Maria said. They both got up and hugged me.
"So is it just going to be us?" Alexis asked.
"Yea. My two best friends will be my two maids of honor. My only bridesmaids."
"Oh my God this is so exciting!" Maria said.
"Well I'm going to go tell the cake lady that we'll get the carrot cake so we can go and plan the bridesmaid dresses."

"Hello?" my mother's voice asked.
"Hey Mom." I said and smiled at the sound of her voice. I was at home alone, laying on the bed.
"Gloria! How are you sweetie? It's been a while since you called."
"I'm fine and yea it has been a while. I'm sorry about that, I've just been busy with the wedding preparations and all."
"Of course, I understand. It's right around the corner. What do you need to get done now?"
"Oh not much. I need to get the flowers, catering, seating, invitations and the bridesmaids dresses. Wow, that's a lot isn't it?" I laughed.
"Yes dear," she laughed, "it's quite some work. You mentioned bridesmaids dresses. Who are your bridesmaids?"
"I haven't told you! I saw Maria again some weeks ago."
"Really? That's wonderful. How is she?"
"She's good, Mom."
"And did you also see the boys? Billie Joe?"
"Yea Mom," I sighed, "I saw all of them. In fact Maria and Mike are getting married."
"Wow. What a surprise, though I always knew something was going to come out between this two."
"Yea, so Maria and Alexis are going to be my bridesmaids. Both of them are going to be maids of honor."
"That's great honey but...what about Rebecca? Can't she be your bridesmaid too?"
"You know how I feel about Rebecca, Mom."
"Yes darling but she's your sister. It's not good that just because of what happened with Billie Joe you two have to have this eternal battle."
"Mom, he was my first boyfriend. He was so special to me. He was my first. He was my best friend. And she knew all that. There were millions of other guys in the world, why did she have to get mine?" my voice cracked and a tear slipped down my cheek.
"Oh sweetie..."
"Plus," I wiped the stray tear, "she did that with every boy I liked. Any boy I thought was cute, she would win him over. She started the rivalry since we were kids, Mom. She ruined what I had with Billie Joe. I don't want her to ruin what I have with Sebastian."
"Okay honey, I understand. But she can attend right?"
"Yes mom. I just want her as least involved in this as possible."
"Yes, of course. Well when are you going to go to the bridesmaids fittings? I'd love to come with you."
"Yea, that'd be great. We were going to go in Monday. In four days. I'll call you then so you can meet us."
"Okay Gloria. I love you, sweetie."
"I love you too Mom. Say hi to Dad for me will you?"
"Of course hun."
"Okay, bye Mom."
"Bye Gloria."

So no Billie I'm this chapter but it's okay! He'll be more involved in the ones to come. By the way, I'm super happy with the great response this story has gotten from you guys.
