"stop crying! i already said sorry, god you're annoying," tyler's sister huffed in frustration.

"i'm sorry," tyler replied, wiping at his eyes. "i can't help it," he said between sniffles before beginning to sob again.

"ugh, whatever," his sister groaned before leaving the boy's room. tyler gazed down at his floor at the now crushed flower crown and let out a few more tears. that was his favorite flower crown, with radiant pink flowers surrounded by soft green leaves. and madison had just stepped on it.

"it's not her fault," he sighed, his tears finally coming to a stop. "if I hadn't been so careless when putting it back maybe the cat wouldn't have knocked it on the ground and maybe madison wouldn't have stepped on it." he sighed in exasperation before accepting what had happened and muttering a soft "oh well."

the small boy stood up and looked in the mirror, observing his tear stained face.

"i'm so pathetic and sensitive, why can't i be normal" he muttered at his reflection in disgust. he turned away and plopped back onto his bed.

one day he'll stop crying.
one day he'll be happy.

as tyler's eyes opened due to the bright sun creeping in through his blinds, a horrific thought struck him. it was monday. which meant he had school. and because the sun was already up, he was late.

"dangit tyler," he whispered as tears started to prick his eyes. tyler really cared about school, he had all a's and b's  and dedicated most of his time to his school work. to him, his intelligence was all he had, so he took pride in how well he did in school yet he never felt like it was enough.

tyler got up and quickly slid on skinny jeans and a white button up. he finished the outfit with floral vans and rushed down the stairs to the kitchen.

"mom mom mom mom," tyler shouted to his mom who was scrolling through facebook and sipping coffee.

"tyler? i thought you left with everyone else this morning! why are you still here?"

"i ask myself the same thing everyday," tyler muttered. "but ok um can you like take me to school now or," he trailed off.

"oh right yes," she agreed, grabbing her keys and walking out the door, tyler following behind.

the car ride was quick and before tyler knew it, he was walking into gym class with all of his stuff for the day. he had only missed 3 classes but he was relieved he missed the whole first half of gym.

as tyler sat on the bleachers after handing the teacher his pass, he pulled out his phone and began to scroll through twitter like he always did. his feed was totally dead since everyone was in school so he sighed and examined the room.

everyone looked the same and nothing seemed too new. he looked around for his only friend, jenna, and saw her with some red headed kid on the opposite side of the gym.

tyler decided he could talk to jenna until his next class since the internet decided to fail him so he quickly walked over and sat right next to her.

"hey," she greeted cheerfully. "where were you?"

"i kinda slept in," tyler admitted timidly, a bit intimidated by the other person sitting next to jenna. now that tyler was up close, he noticed the boy not only had bright red hair but gauges, too. tyler wondered why jenna was near someone so scary but then scolded himself for being too judgey. maybe this person is nice.

"lucky," she scoffed before introducing the two boys. "well tyler, this is josh," jenna pointed to the boy next to her and josh waved awkwardly.

"hey," josh smiled. tyler noticed how josh's eyes squinted at the corners when he smiled and thought this was adorable.

"oh, hi," tyler mumbled looking down at his fidgeting fingers. he was trying to shake his thoughts of josh's attractiveness away. tyler was gay and his family knew but the only person at school that knew was jenna, and he wanted to keep it that way. plus, josh was probably very straight.

"his schedule got changed and i used to be in his homeroom but now he's here so i decided to be nice and yeah," jenna explained. tyler nodded and pulled out his phone, wondering if this was a bad idea. he knew he was awkward but he just didn't think he would be this awkward. he started the think of what his life would be like if he was alone, if he isolated himself from everyone. and with that thought, the bell rang and he quickly got up and rushed to his next class.

the rest of the day went by fast, probably because tyler skipped half of it, but when he got home he was exhausted. he tossed his backpack on the ground and laid on the floor. he knew if he got on his bed, he'd fall asleep and have less time to do his homework. after a couple minutes, he decided to actually do something productive and got up and started working on his annoying homework.

halfway through his math homework, he burst into frustrated tears. he had been working on his math homework for two hours and he had only done a few problems. he hated math and right now he wanted to throw something. something small though, like a cup.

he went downstairs and grabbed a plastic cup from the cabinet, one from the back so no one would notice it's disappearance. he walked outside onto the driveway and threw the cup. a moment after watching the plastic shatter in a satisfying way, he realized how stupid that was and began to get teary eyed again.

"why am i so weird," he wondered out loud, biting his lip to try and stop the ugly sounds that leave his mouth when he cries.

"tyler," a warm voice shouted behind him. tyler turned around in alarm and saw josh, by the mailbox of the house across the street.

"hey," tyler awkwardly shouted, trying to wipe his tears away as fast as possible.

"did you just throw a cup," josh asked, walking up to tyler.

"um, yeah, i needed to get my anger out," tyler explained, looking down at his feet. josh finally was face to face with tyler and noticed the tear stains on the boy's face.

"hey, are you okay," josh asked, both concerned and confused. tyler's eyes widened and he quickly wiped his face.

"yeah, i'm fine. i uh gotta go," he spoke quickly before turning away. josh caught his arm and pulled out his phone.

"what's your number, if you ever wanna talk about anything," josh offered, slightly nervous.

"um, okay," tyler agreed hesitantly, pulling out his own phone and handing it to josh after taking josh's phone. tyler hardly knew josh, why would he vent to a stranger?

after the boys got their phones back, they both went back inside their houses. tyler never knew his neighbors so he realized he shouldn't have really been surprised that it was someone he kind of knew.

after entering the house, he was no longer frustrated and sloppily rushed through the rest of his homework. he really wanted to go to sleep. about an hour later, he crawled into bed and closed his eyes and dreamt of red hair.
