Prompted by: Mad Girl’s Love Song by Sylvia Plath (excerpt)

I shut my eyes and all the world drops dead;

I lift my lids and all is born again.

(I think I made you up inside my head.)

And in that millisecond where

she blinks – the whole world dies,

nothing exists, nothing matters

but all that she can see; darkness.

And in that eternity she is alone,

her state of being is lost to time.

Quick and slow is relative to

perception and comparison.

And in that oblivion she is consumed,

her mind is floating, embracing

the darkness and the absence.

No one will notice… except you.

And in that moment, smile at her.

Because even though she won’t know,

you will; you were there for her

when all she knew dropped away.
