~Kyra~

I watch from my hiding place as vivid pinks and oranges paint the sky and the sun slowly begins to rise. Swing a sunrise is rare for me. I don't think I've seen a sunrise since I was forced to go rogue.

Normally, I would have fled my hiding place long before sunrise, running in case I was on a packs territory. The unspoken rule is that as long as you're gone by dawn, they'll let you go free.

But today, I don't have the chance to run. I've been rogue since I was 8, who knows how many years have passed since I was banished? Living off an unreliable diet of berries and nuts I find in the forest for years on end eventually weakens you. I've always known there would be a point where I would be too weak to continue on. And I've known for months now that that day is approaching.

And so, I sit and watch the sunrise, taking in how beautiful and calm the atmosphere is. This could be my last sunset. Whichever packs territory I'm on will send out their patrols soon and when they do, I know I will die. I'm a rogue. A filthy, dirty, unwashed wolf with no where to call home. No one wants a rogue.

As the sun finally finishes its climb into the sky, a loud howl pierces the quiet atmosphere, pulling me out of my daydreams. Fear consumes me as more howls sound, and I try to push further back into the small burrow I found last night. I don't know why I'm bothering to hide. They'll find me anyway.

I hear another howl, this one louder, and then the sound of paws hitting the hard ground. Fighting back a whimper of fear, I try and shift into Wolf form, but I'm too weak. Unable to hold back anymore, I let out a sob. As soon as the sound leaves my mouth, I regret it.

The sound of bones cracking and reshaping fills the air as the wolves nearby shift to their human forms.

"Find the rogue" a deep voice growls "I can smell it. Alpha wants all the rogues we can find rounded up. First to find it can skip training today. Go"

Fear consumes me completely, knowing that I was going to be caught. I can't help myself and let out another son, tears starting to stream down my face.

It doesn't take long for the wolves to find me then. Before I can even blink, a man with blue eyes and greasy hair is dragging me out of my hiding place by my arm and shouting out to those around us.

"Beta Stephens!" He yells gruffly "I've got the rogue! Quite a pretty one too, maybe you and Alpha could let me deal with her instead?" He asks, cackling.

"Thank you Marks, but that won't be necessary. And your comments about the rogue are not appreciated. All punishment will be left up to the Alpha. You know that" the same deep voice answers and I look up to be faced with the most attractive man I've ever seen. He's tall, and buff, with blonde hair, tan skin, and blue eyes.

He looks over me, blue eyes criticising, but curious. I squirm under his harsh glare, but don't look away. I'm not that weak.

"I'll take her to down to the cells. Marks, go and notify the Alpha that there was only one rogue in our territory and that I've taken her down to the cells. Then, I expect all of you to be in the training field within 15 minutes. Are we clear?" His voice is loud and filled with authority, and the wolves surrounding us nod and swiftly disappear into the woods. The ddmoment they're gone, the Beta turns to me, grabbing my arm and starting to drag me through the forest.

"What's your name rogue?" He questions, voice harsh as he continues to pull me along. My legs drag and get caught on sticks and rocks and I quickly run out of breath. When I don't answer, he gets angry.

"I asked you what your name was! I am a Beta, and you are obliged to reply to me! Answer me!" He stops dragging me along to turn and glare at me and I quickly catch my breath again before answering.
