Kaydence and Tai's selfie before they leave for the party in the MM.

Ever since Christmas, I haven't been able to stop thinking about Tai. Christmas Day was perfect. I couldn't have asked for more! It's New Year's Eve and I'm stuck at home bored. I want to spend the day with Tai, but since the school isn't close to my house I don't want him to have to drive all the way here to come pick me up and have to bring me home. I hate not having a car. Both Kaylin and Damien got a car when they graduated high school, but since I graduated not long after the move, I have to wait.

Trey Songz is singing about making love faces and the music stops. The phone begins to ring and Tai's name and face pop up on the screen.

"Hellooo," I sing.

"Wassup love? Whatchu doin'?"

"Listening to music, you?"

"Nothin'. You got plans tonight?"

"Nope. I'll be right in this house."

"Well how 'bout we hit up a party tonight."

"OMG yes! I've been dying to get outta here! What time should I be ready?"

"Uh, probably about 9. Party starts at 10."

"Cool, let me know when you on the way."

"Alright love, see you."

He hangs up and Trey Songz's voice fills my ears again. I see that it's still early, almost 2pm. I lay back and relax until it's time to get dressed.

Around 8:15 Tai sends me a text letting me know he's on his way. I'm not sure what type of party it is so I am unsure of how to dress. I dial Tai's number while looking through the clothes hanging in my closet.

"Hey," Tai answers.

"Hey, uh, I don't know what to wear. What kind of party is this?"

"Casual. You don't have to dress up."

"Okay, thanks."

"Alright."

I hang up and my eye catches my red plaid shirt. I grab it, a pair of jeans, and my knee-high Timberland boots. I hop in the shower and wash up. When I finish, I lotion down in my favorite Bath & Body Works lotion and get myself dressed. As I am tying up the laces on my boots, I hear the doorbell ring. I walk downstairs and open the door.

"Hey," I smile and hug Tai.

"Wassup love," he embraces me.

I step to the side and let him in.

"Where ya fam at?"

"I don't know. You can come upstairs. I'm almost ready."

I walk upstairs and Tai follows. I make my way into the bathroom to try to fix my hair. I stand in the mirror trying to figure what I should do with my hair while Tai watches from the doorway. I grab a scrunchie and attempt to pull my hair into a ponytail. I examine myself, realize I don't like it, and pull my hair back down.

"You got a hat like this?" Tai points to the tan bucket hat on his head.

"Uh, no. I think Kaylin has a black hat. Why?"
