Neymar knocked on Ana's front door. He could hear a dog barking and a few people telling it to be quiet. The door opened and he was greeted by a terrifying looking guy. He was probably 6'4 and had muscly arms and Neymar feared for his life as that man stared a hole into him.
"You're the boy my sisters helping?" He asked.
"Yes." Neymar squeaked.
"Don't be obnoxious, let him in." Ana said shoving her brother out of the way.
"Sorry, he thinks it's funny to scare any person that is of the opposite gender of me." Ana apologized.
"It's alright." Neymar smiled awkwardly.
"Have you eaten dinner?" A voice asked.
Neymar spun and found what he assumed to be Ana's mother.
"Would you like to join us? You must of just gotten done with your football training." Her mother offered.
Neymar smiled.
"That'd be nice, thank you."
Neymar sat in between Ana and her brother at their dinner table.
"How long have you been playing football?" Ana's father asked.
"Since I was born practically." Neymar answered.
"Are you good?" Ana's brother asked.
Ana chuckled.
"Neymar's the best in school. In fact, he's probably the best kid in the whole of Brazil." She said.
Neymar stared at her for a moment, actually feeling the slightest blush greeting his cheeks.
"I always wanted Thiago to get into football, but he liked playing beach volleyball in the summers with all the girls." Ana's father said.
"I wasn't in it for the girls!" Thiago snapped.
"What was it then? The sand?" Ana teased.
"Stop picking on me! I can't be intimating if I'm being picked on!" Thiago laughed.
Ana laughed, Neymar joining in too. He felt extremely welcomed. He's never been one to easily fit right in with an entire family like this. He likes to get to know people first, so his jokes don't accidentally offend anybody. This time though, he was saying jokes and everybody was laughing. Neymar felt happy. Something nice for a change, instead of frustration and stress.
"I'll clean up, you guys go learn math." Ana's mom said.
Ana went to protest but decided against it. Instead she said to follow her. Her bedroom wasn't what Neymar imagined. Her room consisted of light pink walls, that were fading to white. Ribbons hanging on her curtains rod and a wall of three football jerseys and hats. Her Tv had an Xbox connected to it, and Neymar wondered why he was only meeting his perfect girl now.
"You like football?" Neymar asked observing the two Santos jerseys and a Ronaldinho Barcelona jersey.
"Yeah." She smiled.
"Me too." Neymar said stupidly.
"I never would have guessed." She joked.
"You have FIFA?" Neymar asked.
Ana laughed.
"Let's go, time to learn math." She instructed.
Neymar focused for the full two hours. He learned most of what would be on the test, of course Neymar needed to know it all. So, they arranged to do the same thing the next day.
Neymar stared at the jerseys on the wall as he waited for his mother to come pick him up.
"One day, you'll have to add my jersey up there too." Neymar stated.
Ana stared at Neymar. He was clearly in a different land from her. It made her wonder how he could be so confident. It caused Ana to wonder about the young boy in front of her more than she should be.
