I woke up to the phone ringing louder than my alarm on school days.

"Hello?" I said picking up.

"Hey it's Corey! Wanna go to the lake?" Corey said, I knew he had that huge stupid smile on his face.

"Sure but isn't that an hour drive?" I said.

"Yea, and?" He laughed.

"Okay, okay."

"I'll be there in 20."

"What but I barely woke up?!" I whined.

"See you soon Parker." He said, hanging up. I got up and grabbed a swimsuit and some clothes.

"Who was that?" Drew asked.

"Corey. Would it be okay if I went to the lake with him?" I asked.

Fingers crossed he says yes

"I guess. But be home by 4! I have work at 5, okay?" He said.

"Thank you!" I said, running into the bathroom. I washed my face and changed into my swimsuit. I threw on a Beatles shirt, some Jean shorts and my keds. I brushed my hair and walked out.

"You look cute." Korine said.

"Why thank you, I like your dress." I said.

"Thank you!" She said, skipping away into the bathroom. I walked to the kitchen and grabbed an apple. I walked into the living room and took a seat on the couch.

"What are you watching?" I asked Drew

"The Blackhawks vs Canucks game."

"Who's winning?" I asked.

"Obviously the best hockey team, Blackhawks."

"Best hockey team," I said, adding air quotes. "as if."

"Okay sure."

"Canucks for the win." I said, just as there was a knock at the door.

"I'll get it." Korine yelled. I got up and threw away my apple core.

"Hey Kori, right?" I overheard Corey say.

"Yup, who are you?" She said.

"Corey." He said.

"Oh, Parkers boyfriend." Corey laughed.

"Can you get your sister?"

"Parker! There's a boy here for you!" She yelled.

"Coming." I said, grabbing my keys and bag. I walked out the kitchen and to the door.

"Hey." Corey said.

"Bye." Korine said, walking away.

"Bye Korine." I said, walking out.

"Your little sisters cute." He said.

"Don't forget sassy, as she likes to say."

"Oh for sure." He laughed. We got into his car, which was parked in front of the building, and drove off.

"I see you like The Beatles." Corey motioned.

"Of course, who doesn't?" I said, putting on my glasses.

"Some of my friends don't so I always keep my records hidden."

"I'm sorry you have such horrible friends." He laughed.

"Do you mind if I turn on the radio?"

"Not a bit." I said. He turned the radio notch and the sweet sound of rock and roll filled the air. We sat in silence most of the drive as the music played.

"I guess I should mention my grandparents live on the lake we're going to." He said.

"Oh, so like the perfect place to dump a dead body?" I laughed.

"You don't think I'm gonna murder you, are you?" He said, pretending to be hurt.

"Yea, a stake to my heart." I said. He laughed and continued to focus on the road.

"My grandma and mom are looking forward to meeting you." He said.

"Are they now?" I said, he nodded. After a couple minutes, he drove onto a dirt road leading to a small house.

"Beware, they have two Beagles, Beans and Rose, who love kisses and new people." He said as we got out. I grabbed both our bags as he knocked on the door.

"Corey! Hey!" A lady with greying blonde hair in her maybe late 70s.

"Hey grandma." He said, giving her a hug.

"Is this the girl you've been talking nonstop about?" His grandma said. Corey looked down and I could tell he was blushing.

"I'm Parker, nice to meet you." I smiled, stretching my hand out for her to shake it.

"I'm Corey's grandma, but call me Shirley." She said, shaking my hand.

"Is grandpa in the shed?" Corey asked.

"Yea, guys been in there since 8am. Go get him so he can have lunch." Shirley said.

"Okay." Corey said, walking to the shed.

"Now come on in, Corey's moms inside. Anything to drink?" She asked.

"No, I'm good." I smiled, following her into the house and to the kitchen. I looked down and saw the dogs Corey was talking about.

"You must be Parker!" A lady said, walking towards me.

"You must be Corey's mom?" I asked. She nodded and smiled.

"He's been smiling more since he's met you." She winked.
