Cheat Clicking

Leo was browsing the web for something to do. He had already gone through 42 different websites in the last hour.

He was at the bottom of a news article about Crayola and Oprah when he came to the wall of ads.

He gave them all a glance before wanting to move on, but he had to read one of them twice to get it.

"Is your partner cheating on you? Enter their email address and see all of their social profiles now!"

This caught his attention. He had seen these ads many times before and they always sparked his interest. He had always wondered what would happen if he clicked on an ad. Would it tell him that he won an iPhone? Would it give his computer a virus? Would it show him the tip about cutting belly fat? He didn't know, but the urge to just click never escaped him.

Just. One. Click.

Click.

He had done it. The page was loading. He waited in anticipation to see what would come up.

For the first time in his life, he had clicked on an ad, and for the first time in history, it had been legit.

He closed all of the nonsense and pop ups that it gave him before going back to the supposed cheat finder page.

He had to roam around the page to find the space on the page that wasn't an ad.

Finally, he found it. It told him to enter the email of his prometido so that he could find out if they were cheating on him.

Not like he was going to do it, though. Who would he search for?

No, he had only clicked to see what the ad was.

But now that he had, maybe it wasn't such a bad idea to use it.

There was one person's email that he could enter, and that email belonged to Calypso.

"No, you can't do that, Leo."

He realized a little too late that he had said that aloud.

Making sure that no one had heard him, he typed Calypso's email into the box—calynymph@yahoo.com.

He pressed go and waited. After 32 seconds, the page loaded with tons of stuff for him to see. There were pages upon pages for him to scroll through with the occasional ad. He started from the top.

First, it came up with her Twitter profile. There wasn't much to see there. Then, it named all of the other social media sites that she had accounts for, which he didn't care about. He scrolled past her Tumblr page to find the hidden gem.

There were pages of random accounts for games, websites, and surveys that had been made with her email. He found that she had accounts for many websites that he had never even heard of.

She had an account for translateRZ.com, flowersRcool.com, murder.gov, and hallmarknews.net. Leo was a little bit suprised, but so far, it didn't seem like she was cheating on him.

He kept on scrolling past all of the nonsense. There were no accounts for dating websites or obscure chatrooms that he could find.

He heard Calypso coming towards his room. Quickly, Leo closed the website and cleared all of his history.

When she stepped into his room, he had just closed his laptop.

"What in the world have you been up to, Leo Valdez?"

"Not what you think I've been doing."
