I decided Portland would be my first stop on this trip due to my favorite show EVER, Portlandia. Jen always tells me about her childhood in the Pearl District, so when we finally arrived there, I felt like at any given moment I could see Fred or Carrie walking down the street.
"Since it might be hard to breathe, I found a cool hike that's perfect," Atticus rambled. "It's called Forest Park. Oh, we can take pictures! We can make a scrapbook!"
Atticus has an unhealthy obsession with taking photos and making scrapbooks of them. My dying wish is for him to find a Scrapbookers Anonymous (if it exists). When we finally made it to the forest, Jen opened the door for me and I climbed out. "Wow." I was stunned by the lush scenery surrounding us everywhere.
I couldn't help but smile as we walked alongside a flowing river, Tom snapping polaroids as we went along the path. The scenic view took my breath away, almost literally, as I walked through the forest. It seemed like something out of a story, but better, and I didn't want to leave, even though I knew I was going to. It seemed better to die in a beautiful wooded fantasy than a dreary hospital in the city.
