Butterflies and love

When you are sitting next to me,

I feel safe and secure.

Warm and loved when you look into my eyes and smile.

You cup my face with your hands and caress it.

You are sitting next to me

And I lace my fingers through yours.

You pull me closer and feel my involuntary shiver.

You wrap your arms around me.

I lay my head on your chest,

Your breath gently tickling the side of my face.

You do not want to complicate things.

Rhythmically you stroke my hair and I snuggle closer and fall asleep in your arms.

Just for a little while.

You don't move.

When I awaken, you are looking at me tenderly

Stirring the butterflies in my stomach.

You know what I want...

You can see it in my eyes.

I know what's in your heart.

I reach up and place the softest kiss on your lips and you respond in a way I never expected.

The kiss deepens with every passing minute until your lips crush mine.

We stay in our little bubble for a while, then you pull away.

I question you with my eyes but you shake your head.

I don't know why and you won't explain.

You just pull me closer and kiss my forehead lightly.

I know what it means:

I'm sorry.

Goodbye, my love.

I love you but it's time to set you free.
