Chapter 6

Your POV

Turns out, that letting Levi carrying me back was a bad idea. That titan had crushed two of his ribs. Luckily, it wasn't *life threatening.* I went and checked on him everyday. Little did I know, this was just the beginning of a long chain of events.

After eating, I took some food to Levi. I'd never stopped to think about it before, but Levi only woke up when I used his first name. That's not suspicious at all. I stopped outside his door and knocked.

"I brought you food!" I called and he told me to come in. I set his food down on the table next to his bed. Then I sat in a chair left next to him. "Feeling any better?"

"Despite having broken ribs, I'm fine."

"No sarcasm idiot. I'm asking sincerely here." He smirked at me and my eyes widened. I practically leaned on him, putting my hand to his forehead.

"What are you doing?" He asked. I didn't notice the slight blush on his face. 

"Are you really okay? Do you have a fever? You actually showed emotion on your face." I was only half-joking. 

Levi's POV

Her chest was practically in my face as she checked my temperature. I slightly blushed and tried to shove her off.

"I'm fine. Leave me alone." She didn't seem to realize how close she was.

"I'm sorry for caring." She half-spat at me. "I just..." He face was slightly red and she fell on my shoulder. Surprisingly, it didn't hurt my ribs. I put my hand on her forehead and found that she was the one with the fever.

"You idiot. I told you to get more rest." Whenever she had visited me, she looked tired. I had repeatedly told her to sleep more, but she just brushed me off. She mumbled something and I couldn't hear it. She looked up at me slightly, her face red from the fever.

"I'm sorry. I just wanted to be helpful for once." With that, she passed out and I sighed. "Idiot." I wrapped my arms around her and pulled the remainder of her legs onto the bed. She moved in her sleep and her arms had found their way around my neck. I accidentally let out a sigh of content.

~Time Skip to the next day~

Your POV

I woke up to find myself in Levi's arms. I blushed before I tried to struggle out of his grasp. He only tightened his grip and I decided to stop struggling. That doesn't mean he won't get an ear full later. 

It was then that I realized, I felt like crap. I was sweating, yet at the same time I was shivering. I tried to get away again. The last thing he needs is to get sick with broken ribs.

"Corporal? Let go. Please, Corporal. Captain? Heichou?" I whispered in his ear. "Levi, please let go." He relaxed in his sleep and I was able to get away. I stumbled out of his room, but didn't get far. Slumping against the wall, I slid down to the ground, holding my head in my hands.

"(Y/n)? Are you okay?" I looked up to see Eren, a worried look plastered on his young face. I don't think I realized this until just now, but we are separated by at least 7-8 years.

"No. I'm not okay. I'm sick." I croaked.

"Then what are you doing out here?"

"I was checking on Levi." A scowl replaced the worried look. 

"Why do you worry so much about him?!"

"He's hurt and it's my fault. I have to do something!" I tried to stand up, but collapsed into his arms. 

"Look at you! You can hardly stand. This isn't the time to worry about others!" Tears threatened to spill from my eyes.

"But, it's my fault. If I wouldn't have been so childish and declared a rematch. He never would have been caught off-guard. Then he wouldn't be so hurt now." Eren sighed and carried me to my room. I slept the next three days away. Apparently, it was enough time for Levi to recover and enough time for the titans to find us.
