Skye P.O.V.
At least it isn't Paris. That would have been a disaster. Not that I would leave Ward and Silk alone to explore the city, there's a part of me that might have exploded have I done that. I do have to say Carcassonne is beautiful. Green land and rivers. Apparently where we are going is a castle. Chateau de Queribus is what Coulson called it. All these French names are rather hard to pronounced and I stopped trying after I overheard a snicker after mispronouncing the name of the town we are visiting. I glanced at Silk trying to catch her in the act, but she was rather good at hiding it.
We stepped off the Bus and looked around the vast countryside. "This sure is lovely!" Silk's Scottish accent burst through the silent landscape. "I agree." Ward and Silk smiled at each other. I groaned and earned a sympathy look from Simmons, who also was admiring the landscape. "This is where the base exit should be." Coulson typed a couple of things into his phone. "Exit?" Fitz ran off the bus to where Simmons was standing. An audible sigh was heard from May, "yes, exit. You don't burst through a guarded front," she smiled as she stepped next to Coulson, "you go through the end they don't expect."
We trudged forward. The castle itself was on top of a hillside, but we were edging along the bottom, looking for some sorta hidden doorway. I felt a breeze and the little voice inside my head told me this was the spot, "Coulson! I think I found it!" Coulson rushed over and I stepped back to let him do the work. I heard a scoff from behind and turned around to see Silk attempting to hide a bit of a snicker, "why don't you go announcing it to the whole city?" Ward smirked, "it's okay Rookie. You'll learn until you get to be like us." Ward puffed his chest out to try and look manly as I let out a huff and turned around to where Coulson finally got the door open.
Ward's P.O.V.
It's great to finally have someone on board who understands what it's like to be a senior officer, well besides Coulson and May, but there is only so much talking to be held with the both of them. We crept through the open doorway. Watching for anyone who would sneak up on us, we crept around the corner to a main artery of the building. Coulson pointed at Skye and Silk and pointed them towards an office. Skye mouthed her protest, but Coulson just pointed again. He beckoned me with my hand and whispered in my ear, "you'll stay here with FitzSimmons. They are going to scrounge the walls for a radioactive isotope that we suspect is in this base. You stay as backup to watch both FitzSimmons and the two girls." I nodded as May and Coulson ran off down another hallway.
Moments passed by as the Science geeks scrubbed the walls for evidence and the girls were doing something in the office, Skye looking very solemn and Silk being as charming as ever. Nobody ever came in the large room which was a little concerning. This was supposed to be a large HYDRA base right? FitzSimmons wrapped up and stood behind me, their backs to the wall, and Silk and Skye were still going at it. The cuff in my ear buzzed from a incoming radio call. "It's Coulson. Come down the hallway and meet us in the room straight ahead. Hurry. I think we've found something."
FitzSimmons and I ran towards the office the duo were in and grabbed them before running down the hallway. We entered the room and were immediately frozen where we stood. May was out and tied up in a knot that I couldn't understand and Coulson stood unarmed. There was something different. Where as Coulson normally had a very warm face, his new slate showed one of cold posterety. He showed a hard smile, "See, I told you I found something." And soldiers and a man stepped out of the shadows.
