'He needs you, that's very me.' The Doctor'a words still floated in her head, even after she saw the Doctor, the real Doctor, return to his TARDIS and fly away with Donna, leaving her and the other Doctor at the beach.

Rose sighed, her hand still laced in with the new Doctor. "Rose, you alright?" She heard her mum ask. Still looking at the spot the TARDIS was, she nodded. She didn't nod because she was ok, hell, it was pretty much the opposite...She had found the one she loved, the Doctor, after 3 years of searching and now she had lost him again... Not only that, but now she was stuck with someone who looked exactly like him... With someone who claimed he was him... "I don't... I... Yeah." She said after a few moments, her voice crackly from trying to hold back tears.

Rose released her hand and ran over to Jackie, embracing her mum in a long hug. She rested her head on Jackie's shoulder as her mum ran her fingers through Rose's hair.

After a few moments, she straightened up and turned to look at the second Doctor. "So, you're really him then? Same memories and everythin'?" She asked, gazing at the man who stood just a few feet away.

"Yep." He said simply, giving a small, but forced, grin. "Same memories same face. Just more 'human.'" He said, over expressing the word human. "Still gatta get used to that." He said, putting his hands in the pockets of his striped suit.

Rose smiled a bit, studying the Doctor. She had finally gotten what she always wanted, to stay with the Doctor forever, but she knew deep down that this wasn't 'her Doctor.' He may have the same face, but she knew this wasn't the man she had traveled with.

When she didn't speak, she saw the Doctor give a small frown. "I could always leave, if that's what you want?" He said sadly, his gaze focused right on her. "No." She said quickly. "No, it's just... You're different."

The Doctor sighed. "I'm not, truly I'm not." He said, taking a step closer so they were face to face. He slowly reached down and grabbed her hand with his. "I know you don't think I'm him, but I am." He gave a slight grin. "I remember everything. Even if it wasn't 'me' that traveled, I have the memories inside me." He blinked, rubbing his other hand through his hair.

Rose thought of what to say next for a moment, gazing at their attached hands. She turned up to face him. "Remember Ida, from the planet that had the beast?" She said, making sure their eyes met. The Doctor nodded, raising an eyebrow, his face now confused. "Yes, why?"

"When we came back in contact, after you uh...jumped, she said you mentioned my name." She paused for a few moment. "What did you tell her, about me?"

The Doctor released her hand. "I..." He started, looking at his shoes. "I was going to have her tell you something." He tried to explain. Rose narrowed her eyes. "What do you mean?" He looked back up and locked eyes with her, crackling the corners of his mouth to show a small grin. "I told her that if she got back into contact, tell you that I..." He paused again, obviously showing that what he was trying to say was not easy. Rose knew what he was going to say. The same thing he was going to say at the beach.

She felt water trying to get through her eyes, but she wouldn't let it. She quickly stepped forward and embraced the Doctor, leaning her head on his shoulders. The Doctor wrapped his arms around her, slowly moving his fingers through her blonde hair, and wow... Rose had to admit that it felt good to hug him again. Neither of them spoke. Nothing needed to be said. Rose understood now. This man wasn't her real Doctor, no. But yet he still made as her somehow feel safe. That's all that mattered to her.

After their long hug, Rose pulled away and grabbed his hand. "C'mon, then." She said with her smile that could melt the coldest of places. "Looks like you'll need to get that mortgage after all." He laughed as they started to walk back to Jackie and the car, swinging their hands forward and backward as they walked. "Thought we agreed we'd share." He exclaimed, moving closer so their shoulders touched.

Rose grinned. "Sounds like a plan." Once they reached Jackie, Jackie glanced up and blinked at the Doctor. "Looks like we're stuck with you, then." Jackie said, getting into the car. "Could be worse, I suppose." The Doctor rolled his eyes, opening the car door for Rose. "Pleasure to be with you too as well, Jackie." Once Rose got in, he followed her in the backseat.

"So what do you two plan on doin' anyways?" Jackie asked as she started to drive away from the beach. "All you've got in that small coral. That 'ain't gunna do you much good." Jackie stated. "Oh, I don't know. Little things can lead to great wonders." The Doctor replied, tossing the coral in his hands. Jackie couldn't help but smile.

"What will you do 'till it grows?" Rose asked. "Don't know, really. Guess ill get used to this human heart." He said, looking at his chest and placing his hand to it, feeling the single beat. He made a face and sighed. "It's like I regenerated again..." He murmured. Rose laughed, leaning her head back on the seat,

"Doctor, you'll have to get a job!" She said through a laugh. The Doctor sent her a horrified look. "No.." He said, drastically shaking his head. "Oooo this'll be good." Rose chuckled. "Blimey... Being human isn't so fun after all..."
