HELLO! It's been so long since I've updated but I wanna get back into writing. I've been working on a new Spencer Reid story and I have tons of ideas for it. It will most likely be multiple parts and I'm really excited to share it so here is a little sneak peak of the very first part of it. Please let me know if you think it's worth continuing. :-) (Also thanks so much for 33k reads!!!!!) -Zoe

The listing called it a charming piece of property, his girlfriend wasn't convinced. He had to admit, it wasn't the new, modern house that Lili longed for, but this was definitely more his taste.

As they pulled into the driveway, Lili turned, eyes narrowed. "Spence, this isn't the house on the listing?" She held the flyer up in confusion.

"I should've told you but I wanted it to be a surprise." Grin wide on his face as he motioned to the decayed house ahead of them. "Adam called me this morning and said he had a great fixer upper that just went on the market today. It's Victorian era style, isn't it beautiful?"

He could see her grimace as the words "fixer-upper" fell from his mouth. "Remember the budget? I thought we agreed on move-in ready." Her pout made him feel bad, he knew she had her heart set on the house on the paper.

"I'm sorry. We'll go to that house afterwards, babe. Let's just check this out. It could have potential!" He leaned across the armrest separating them and pressed his lips to her cheek. She stiffened. "You okay? I know I should've told you..."

"No. Spencer, it's alright, really." She smiled, "Let's check it out."

The gravel on the driveway crunched beneath their feet and the the old wood of the porch creaked as they reached the front steps. Spencer took his time admiring the architecture of the old house as Lili explored inside. It was built in 1890, the paint was peeling, the wood was probably rotting beneath him but the way it almost resembled the medieval castles he'd read about as a child excited him.

He rested a hand on the tall wooden post beside him and imagined all the history that had taken place here. It could be his own. He and his family could add to the history here.

"His family", he smiled at the phrase. Just 4 weeks ago, Lili had sat him down after he arrived home from a case. He immediately thought something was wrong but she only laughed, "Spence, you've gotta stop jumping to conclusions so quickly. Especially now that you're a father." His new title filled him with a happiness he'd never known existed.

A loud shriek jolted Spencer from his thoughts and he bolted inside.

"Lili?! What?! Is it the baby?" He'd already read every baby preparedness book and pamphlet ever written, which meant he knew every possible thing that could go wrong, even in just the first few months. "Where are you?"

"Spencer!" She screamed again. "Oh my god!" He ran further until he collided with Lili who had also been running to him. She grabbed him, frantically, eyes filled with horror. "Adam..." She whispered. "It's Adam."

Behind them, on the kitchen floor, lay Adam. He was Spencer's realtor and friend. And he was laying in a pool of blood.
