*Jess's POV*
I sat there in shock for a moment.
Then I sat down and cried.
I looked up when I felt someone's presence. There was a tall girl in an apron standing over me.
She kinda smiled at me, "sorry I just didn't know if you needed someone to talk to"
I didn't reply I just wiped the tears off my cheeks.
"I'm sorry, now that I'm saying it aloud it sounds kinda weird. I will just go" she went to turn away but I jumped up and put my hand on her shoulder.
She stopped and looked at me and I looked down at her other hand which was holding a pack of cigarettes, "Can I have a cigarette?"
She smiled and nodded, "yeah let's go outside"
When we got outside she went to hand it to me then pulled back, "I should probably ask how old you are shouldn't I?" She said.
"Are you going to check my ID?" I asked.
She shook her head, I smiled, "then I'm nineteen"
She smiled and handed it to me,
Then she lit it for me.
I inhaled then coughed.
"So tell me," she lit hers, "why are you out here smoking with a stranger?"
I looked at her. She reminded me of Danni the way she acted all cool and mysterious. I wasn't about to bullshit her like I did Danni, I was tired of it.
"My girlfriend just dumped me because I'm a self centered bitch" then I took another puff of the cigarette. I was tore between this tastes like ass how do people smoke this? And this is actually kind of calming.
"Everyone is at least a little self centered, it's a human characteristic"
I smiled then turned to face her, "why did you pick up a crying stranger them gave them a cigarette to ask about their life?"
She shrugged, "I'm on break"
I laughed.
"So mystery girl, what's your name?" She asked.
"Jess" I said, "what's yours?"
"Caroline"
We didn't say anything for a moment until it started sprinkling.
"Is it raining?" I asked sticking my hand out just to make sure but then the sprinkling turned into full fledge raining.
She threw down her cigarette then took off her apron and held it over to shield me from the rain, "does that answer your question?"
We ran to the bus stop to get out of the rain.
Once we got there she put the apron down and when I looked up at her and she was drenched and smiling.
"So, Jess, I live a couple blocks over if you want to go to my place and maybe I can make us something to eat"
"Are you an axe murder?" I asked.
"That's for me to know and you to find out" she said with a smirk then the bus pulled up.
She stepped on then walked a few rows back before sitting down.
"M'am, are you getting on?" The driver asked.
I mean what the hell, my mom wouldn't be calling the cops looking for me for atleast three more hours.
