I lay on the ground and watched the  smoke rise up through the trees. You would never guess by looking up and watching yellow leaves float carelessly down that my life as I knew it had just ended. Flames engulfed what used to be my house and embers rained down on me. I was close enough to feel the heat on my burns.
But it wasn't the burns or cuts that were causing me pain. It was the fact that my entire family had been in the house when it suddenly exploded that hurt. My entire being ached, I was alone now.
As I slowly lost consciousness I heard sirens in the distance. My last conscious thought was why bother coming now its too late.
