"Hi mama, you're such a happy baby aren't you?"

Derek cooed at Angeli, this was his third time seeing her and every time he saw her, a little bit of hope was restored in his face.

"How've you been, Nala? Do you need anything?"

I shook my head, it was apparent that Derek was trying to get back on my good side, he was aware that he wasn't able to do much even if I needed something but it was the thought that counts.

"Nala? I know that you don't owe me anything, but I'd like Angeli to meet my side of the family. I know it's ultimately your decision but everyone's been dying to meet her, and my adjectives aren't doing her much justice."

I'd been dreading this, after Derek got locked up, I cut myself off from all things Luh, that included his family. They'd call and call but I never responded, it was crucial for me not to have a constant reminder of Derek.

"I'll think about it Derek. We just got visitation down, the key here's baby steps."

He nodded giving Angeli small kisses on her nose as she clawed at his ears. She wasn't one yet but was already in love with her father, every time she saw her father her eyes would twinkle and they did the same for me but it was so much different.

"It's crazy to think that I could participate in making something so beautiful, she looks so much like me but was blessed with your skin tone. Thank you so much for this. I owe my life to you."

I smiled a bit, he was very appreciative for the little stuff and that was something he learned over time because while free, he was cocky and ungrateful.

"It's all good but we're gonna have to go soon, she needs to eat and I need to get back into town for a couple errands."

Derek pouted, this part of visitation was the hardest, Derek would have to wait another couple of days to see his baby and Angeli would throw a fit leaving his arms.

"I don't wanna let her go, I wanna keep her, I wanna protect her, I hate everyone else who looks at her besides her family."

He kissed her temple and I chuckled, Derek's natural protective instincts were such a turn on, and his efforts to be the best dad he could be while serving a sentence, meant a lot.

"I think that's normal Derek, but you can't hate everyone that's looks at her."

He looked up, and frowned.

"But I do though, this type of beauty isn't aloud to grace anyone's eyes, except for family and since you have no real contact with family then I hate everyone who looks at her."

Angeli started to laugh, as if she knew what Derek was saying and what it meant. Angeli was no doubt the light of our lives.

"Alright mama, I love you so much, be good for mommy, daddy loves you."

Derek handed her over and Angeli started to cry, then Derek shed a couple of tears. It was apparent that he was having serious regrets.

"I'm sorry I did this to you, Angeli."

Derek gave her a final kiss and gave me a hug before having a c.o take him back to his cell.

Angeli hated leaving her father, they had a bond that was so limited but so strong, it was heartbreaking every time visiting was up.

"Come on baby, let's go home. We'll see daddy again soon."

I tried my best to comfort her but she loved her daddy, and I couldn't help that.

"Look at her, she's never gonna get over her daddy, he's gonna have her wrapped around his finger for life."

Jedediah, a C.O joined me as I began walking out of the concealed area. Jedediah was a friend of Derek's, a best friend that was easy to talk to about his problems; Derek seemed to really trust him with everything.
