15.Evil Men, Jumping Kids
The next morning, I woke up before my family; so I climbed out of the stuffy den and into the sunlight. I padded towards the sunning rocks near the glass window and stared through the window. Sadly I saw some of my cousins, standing there staring at me. I looked right into their eyes and sent them mental messages to avoid the bat room, but nothing happened. I could only hope that they would stay away from the bat room.
My mane shone in the sun as I rested in the sight of the kids. My mane was a foot longer than when I had started growing one, but at least I no longer tripped on it.
A few days later, I woke to find a muzzle on my snout; plus, I was in a small cage. I hated cages so much! The doctors or vets poked me and hit me. It was quite painful; then I realized that these were the lab coat men. “How have you been liking being a lion?” asked the first one and I snarled at him.
“We saw you with your lady and babies. You are getting mighty cozy out there,” the second one growled, which was freaky. I glanced away, which they took as a chance to poke me and pull my mane.
“We are working on a half-human translator that will allow us not to change back most of the animals,” the first one told and I was saddened. They put me to sleep and laid me back in the den.
When I woke, I found Jamie and Leo jumping on me. “Children! Children! Stop!” I roared as I rolled, making them fall off. They began running away, I said, “I'm sorry. Come back.”
“We are sorry, Dad,” they replied in union.
“Now go play,” I commanded, hoping to be left alone.
